it wouldnt surprise me if Argentina lost to Colombia.  it would surprise me if they lost to switzerland.

Argentina v England in the semis would be...interesting.

france is favored over morocco and i think they should beat them.  but morocco is a good team and could win.

spain should beat belgium.  france-spain is a great matchup, but every spain game so far has been a let down.  it would be interesting to see france's weakness (midfield) going up against spain's strength.

Bummed about the Colombia loss. I wanted to see a South American brouhaha on Saturday. The Vancouver Hyatt is walking distance from my home and I was in the middle of this crowd last night; Colombia has the most colorful fans.

Have you seen who FIFA has chosen to ref the game on Thursday.

France are going to have to play out of their mind.  A close game and they could very well get the Egyptian love.

I'm hoping the Egypt match is being played tonight. I still haven't seen it. I got home after a concert and supposedly the replay was  going to start about 10 minutes, but they showed Mexico-England instead. The other station had the other Tuesday game on. I fell asleep on the floor trying to watch that game.

I found this video with Tim Howard and Landon Donovan. A lot of this stuff is stuff we've talked about here, or probably on other sites we hit. Interesting. I'm only 23 minutes into it.

I am sure French fans are already complaining about the refs over that VAR check on the Mbappe PK, however, that PK attempt by Mbappe was AWFUL. What the hell was that?

he was just trying to make it more dramatic for people.  win it with a stunner instead.  or he wanted to do the messi: penalty miss and regulation goal.

I’m one of the few people not enthralled with Norway. Nothing to do with Haaland, the team or the country. In fact, I visited Oslo 3x in the span of one year and found it to be really nice. But the reasons for the visits was an M&A deal on which we were working that ultimately blew up due to a rare hot-headed Norwegian. I haven’t forgotten. Hope England lays a beating on them today

Karma is a beautiful thing when it strikes back. I always pull for underdogs in games like this. But the Swis player started falling, reached back hoping to get a yellow or red on the defender.

If they start legitimately start calling these dives and giving yellows consistently using VAR, this crap would be reduced dramatically and quickly.

RIGHT CALL - deserved the double-yellow and red.

England has been through a lot in this tournament.  Mexico City down a man and then getting by Haaland.  Now the Falklands grudge match.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about yesterday’s busy day was that the fans in Miami stayed completely silent for the 30 second tribute to the deceased South African player Jayden Adams.

Norway has a legit gripe.   The Cable Of God play................the cancelled goal...................the fix is in.  FIFA wanted England in the Final Four and they made sure.   FIFA is so dirty.

Even if it hit, it needn’t have been dangerous.

how can you blame the ref for that, he's not watching the flight of the ball.

sour grapes from norway and switzerland.

norway had haaland free on goal and their other striker never even looked at him.  that's when they lost the game.

switzerland's player shouldnt have dived.  that said, it was a weird set of circumstances that resulted in the ref looking at it in the first place.  they have a bit of a bigger gripe than norway, but the dude clearly dived.

I hate diving more than maybe anything else in sports. It's about the most unsportsmanlike thing an athlete can do. If it weren't for the fact that you  just can't always know for sure, I'd make the penalty game forfeiture -- in any sport.

they've done a good job of stopping a lot of it this year.

I rank the remaining teams 1. France 2. Spain 3. England 4. Argentina. But as far as likelihood of winning the World Cup, I rank them 1. France 2. England 3. Spain 4. Argentina only because I think England has a better chance than Spain of winning its semi. Once we get to the final, the winner of France-Spain will be favored over the winner of England-Argentina. Of the 4 teams, the only team I think has very little chance of winning it all is Argentina. England beating France would be a big surprise, England beating Spain would be a small surprise.

fifa already talking about going to 64 teams by 2030.

why even have a qualifying tournament?  every country gets in.

ridiculously watering down the tournament.  As carlos querioz said earlier, its the vulgarization of the tournament.
