GalagaGuy Posted June 18 Author Posted June 18 A couple things that have always bugged me about soccer all the way back to my days playing it as a teenager. 1. A red card should only result in the player being kicked out of the game, not the team having to play a man down. 2. Soccer needs a blue line like in hockey where nothing beyond that line is offside. buddha Posted June 19 Posted June 19 with all do respect to Red, australia isnt very good. the US should whoop them. still worried about the US defense. they look a little uncomfortable when they get pressed. richards looks off. that's fine against paraguay and australia, but it might become an issue in the knockout rounds. Nice to see that the US has come far enough to be expected to beat middling teams in the world cup. it helps to have a real head coach and not the brother of the guy who runs US soccer. Quote

Paraguay, Australia, and Turkey don’t exactly exude football prowess. US will likely go 3-0 and I still can’t tell if they’re any good. Quote

DTroppens Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Been on vacation in the Keweenaw Peninsula so internet time isn't a luxury up there. Also, when I'm on vacation, I just stay away from it because we are always trail walking somewhere, so it's not high priority. The US is in a best-case scenario right now. They got that first-place spot and that's really going to open up the bracket. They haven't had to worry about their defense too much (I missed a good chunk of the second half due to vacation and only saw a replay of the game) which is my biggest worry, but at 2-0 and with Pulisic hurting its hard to be upset with that start. I created a game called Net Results Soccer and one of the seasons I'm replaying is an Eredivisie season from years ago, and Room was Go Ahead Eagles' starting keeper that season and was with Vitesse for a lot of other seasons around that time (playing the 2013-14 season and I have about 90 of the 306 regular season games to go). When I saw he was the keeper, I was pretty amused. He's also played for some other leagues (for sure MLS) where he's had player cards graded for him. I like playing games with "next-tier" European Leagues like Portugal, Holland and Belgium because it's fun to play these leagues and one day see some of these players playing in a World Cup, or maybe eventually on a top-tier team or something like that. I've had the season set shelved for awhile for other projects (some Detroit Tigers seasons and a 1947 MLB replay season) but I am thinking of popping it back up almost only because of Room. 1 Quote
