Of the left hand hitters, Riley has ZERO platoon split this season (Yay!), McGonigle has some split but he's still hitting LHP at a 735 OPS clip.I don't know if he's starting McKinstry - on his career Zach has almost no platoon split, but he does so far this season - but he wasn't hitting anything earlier this season from either side. Vierling's and Jake have both been OK against lefties. Lee was >900 OPS against LHP at Toledo last season. The oddity is that Dingler has a big reverse split so far this season, but he's still at 720 OPS against LHP (he's just crushing RHP at >900). Edited June 23 by gehringer_2 1 Quote

gehringer_2 Posted June 23 Posted June 23 (edited) It's funny, the scorecard makes him +NY, but the game didn't feel that way to me. Just my recollection the outside strikes called against the Tigers mostly early in the count and the pitcher's didn't seem to go back out there again in the AB to take advantage. They seem to be a little more than school resource officers in all white schools in a rich red lined part of town. And also that I was using a time machine in a particularly unambitious way. In fact, it’s been the offense that has been more of a problem for the Tigers, with the team’s outfielders combining for a 93 wRC+ despite a terrific season from Riley Greene. The designated hitters have been even worse, combining to hit an abysmal .215/.295/.324. Nobody’s going to think of Ben Malgeri as a future star, but Detroit needs bats, and Malgeri is a good contact hitter with a hard-hit rate just under 50% in the minors. I have heard the video review people have multiple angles that most fans dont see. Looking at it live, in real time, he appeared safe. Either way, Lee is really starting to grow on me. He very well could be our 2nd baseman of the future. Hinch may just have to start leaving some of these young kids at one position. Not every player is capable of playing multiple positions effectively. Quote
