    Mr and Mrs Smith, anybody?

If you like “Atlanta”, you’ll like this, since many of the same people work on both, and they both have the same feel and approach to photography and dialogue.

We just got through bingeing both shows. Both are super amazing. I was shocked how much I loved Atlanta.

Besides Jason's album Weathervanes, Gabe Lee had my favorite album of 2023 with Drink the River. Superior songwriting from Gabe Lee compared to almost anything out there in music in general, but certainly compared to the booty-pop and bro-country that's out there in mainstream country.

My favorite songs from Gabe Lee's Drink the River album are the title track Drink the River, Lidocaine, Even Jesus Got the Blues, and my personal favorite, The Wild.

Yet another good selection by you, Tater. I've already listened to the entire album twice this morning. Thanks.

People have been begging for Bluesky to open up to the public for the last 6 months but they're still doing their stupid invite system for some reason.

I just got my invite last week. My first post was about how stupid to be invite only. I know plenty of people that want to jump ship from Nazitter but the alternatives feel vacant at the moment.

That being said, I think Bluesky and Threads will thrive once the genius Elon totally destroys his platform.

His Saudi investors will be quite happy.

There is bad country music played on the radio every single day. There is good country music not played on the radio. Charlie Marie makes good country music and she's never featured on the radio alongside the all that crappy music. Listen to more Charlie Marie.

Thanks for this, Tater. Love her voice.

I plowed through Jury Duty on Prime over the course of a couple of days. It was a fun show, but I wonder how that guy was selected to be the "hero" in the first place. They didn't address that in the wrap up at the end of the show.

I have rarely laughed as hard when the defense lawyer finally showed his animation recreation. I literally had tears in my eyes. The IT Crowd was the only other show that has made me laugh like that.

The new Jason Isbell album Weathervanes has dropped. I haven't given it a full listen yet but am excited to do so very soon. As a huge fan of Jason's, I recognize that there will never be an album that compares to his 2012 album Southeastern. So I don't hold the expectation that he needs to record a Southeastern 2.0 type of album and don't expect this album to be that. His Southeastern album was deeply personal and was produced as he was coming out of a very dark time of his life. So I judge each album on its own merits and for their own artistic value and songwriting. And Isbell offers a lot of artistic value and always incredible song writing. I truly do believe he is the greatest songwriter of our times. The modern day John Prine, Bob Dylan, Woodie Guthrie. I can't wait to dive into Weathervanes this week.

One of my favorite music blogs/websites, Saving Country Music, has a nice review up on the Weathervanes album.

    Saving Country Music Weathervanes Review

Hell, yeah. I've been listening on loop. There are a lot of great songwriters out there, but none are better than Isbell.

BTW, Loving the new Jenny Lewis as well.

With the knowledge that Kiss deserves so much of the criticism that they get for being grown men in clown make up at an advanced age (amongst other things), they started out as a really good progressive-style rock band who used the makeup to garner attention. This shows that, in their young and hungry days, they could pound out a great rock tune. Posted to start at the song 100,000 Years.

I read Paul Stanley's auto biography recently. I gotta' say, I thought it was a pretty decent book.

I no longer listen to much KISS, but I am a sucker for a good rock biography.

  8. Watching the final season of Succession on HBO. Wow. What great writing and acting.

The speech a certain someone's brother gave at his funeral was outstanding. Mostly because it was damn true about what is going on in this society.

    Great show.
