The Tigers have been a year away from contending for about 7 years now...🤣🤣

    2025-2026 Lineup

    1B- Torkelson
    2B. - Keith
    SS - Baez
    3B - Jung
    LF - Clark
    CF - Meadows
    RF - Greene
    DH - ?????
    C- ????

I think thats the pipe dream. I'd love for Dingler to be the Catcher of the future but don't think that'll happen. I don't think Kerry Carpenter is the real deal. I don't think Meadows is the real deal either. I hope I'm wrong. But taht's 4 spots that need to be replaced in the lineup. I'd throw Baez in there too but with his contract, he's going NO WHERE.

With only 5 spots I feel comfortable with and thats being gracious to the young guys (especially Clark), thats my reasoning for another need of a true ball player.

A best case scenario is above and even that is dreaming for the most optimistic of us all.....

Meanwhile, we have MLB pitchers in:
    Mize
    Skubal
    Maeda
    Flaherty
    Olson
    Faedo

with Madden, Montero, Flores and Gipson-Long right behind them.

We can and should be making a move now, but we need young guys. Next year we can play in Free Agency. Maybe we can snag Walker Beuhler in Free Agency. There's pieces here but we need more talent on the field every day.....

  2. The Tigers might have a (dare I say) surplus of SP. There's another wave behind that. I really think they should trade one of their starters not named Skubal for a legit position player. I get that we are still a year or two away from competitive baseball, but now would be the time to get a young buck in here. I still want Cowser from Baltiomore. I think he can be had too since they have Stowers waiting in the wings.

I had a family member part of that legal process, some interesting stories there to put it mildly.

Also have two family members heavily involved at UCF as alums.

If they want to talk about supporting UCF, let me know! lol

  5. Football players though are mentally conditioned to be physical and abusive from a young age. It amazes me how many NFL players end up in hot water with the law..... Same for college football players. In College I had classes with some college football players and I was astonished they were even in college....... Now, I'm not saying it's all of them. I'm just saying football players in general that have careers. Heck watch Last Chance U. Three fourths of those players admitted to getting in trouble with the law.... crazy.

  6. So, I work for UCF now and my job is to talk with Alumni. I can't get a lot of them to get on the phone or answer emails.

The amount of information you all can pull up like the Florida laws and screenshots and everything..... If any of you need a job for prospect research, please let me know.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the lady and her family. This is why I lost faith in MIguel Cabrera and wasn't a fan of him.

  7. Going along with my Thread, Tigers trade some surplus pitching to land a stud rookie OF from Baltimore. Either Cowser or Stowers.  Or they pivot to get Encarnacion Strand from Cincinnati. Casey Mize or Matt Manning is the centerpiece.

  8. Welp, lets hear your Wishlist. I don't think the Tigers are a playoff team just yet. Even in this weak division.

My wish is that they'd ship out some pitching for some notable hitters. Something like Manning for Colton Cowser from Baltimore or something like Ty Madden for one of Cincinnati's infielders.

Lastly, I hated the signing since the moment it happened. But I hope Baez has a career year. (See, now I'm reaaaaaaaally wishing.)

That's my wish list for 2024. Yours?

I don't think any other massive free agent signings are coming. I expect us to sign a guard, likely Kevin Zeitler or Greg Van Roten, on a one-year deal; a WR, likely Josh Reynolds, DJ Chark, Mike Williams, or Michael Thomas on a one-year deal; and maybe some defensive depth, particularly in the secondary, guys like Kamren Curl or Tre'Davious White would fit the bill.

    My preferences with the draft...

    1. Trade for an instant playmaker. This could be either a trade up in the draft or a trade for someone like Tee Higgins, Josh Sweat, or Haasan Reddick. In any event, the team is closer than they've been in franchise history to being a perennial Super Bowl contender. There is no reason to beat around the bush or to draft guys as "projects" right now (unless you're damn sure that that project is going to work out). Go get the guy or guys who will put you over the top.

    2. Edge Rusher. I think this is where I would most prefer us add a 1st round talent, though there are only a couple names that likely qualify (Dallas Turner, Jared Verse, and Laiatu Latu). I think the addition of Reader next to Alim is a great start to fixing the defensive line, but we now need a true long-term bookend to Hutchinson, to unleash (what I see as) his true potential as a 15+ sack a year edge rusher... No more revolving door of mediocrity between the Okwaras and Charles Harris... This overlaps with #1 above, but I would like to see us go get one of those top three edge rushers if they fall out of the top twenty. I don't think Davenport's one-year deal forecloses this either.

    3. Offensive Guard. Even with a signing of Zeitler or Van Roten (which really should happen), I think IOL will be the most glaring "need" of the team going into the draft. Guard is not a position where you need a top ten pick to find a quality long-term starter, which is good. The two best OG prospects I see were OTs in college (Taliese Fuaga and Troy Fautanu). They could pick them up and spend 2024 transitioning them to LG or RG, depending on where they want Glasgow. They could also use them as a long-term plan for RT when Decker leaves. Given they are tweeners, they could possibly slide to #29 despite being top-20 talents.

Otherwise, there will be a plethora of options at #61 and #73. Layden Robinson, Graham Barton, Cooper Beebe, Zak Zinter, and Zach Frazier all make sense, are all potential high quality starting OGs, and I would expect more than one of them to be available at #61 and at least one to be there at #73.

    4. Secondary depth. I expect Carlton Davis to receive an extension in the next month or so. He's only 28, in a contract year, and is coming off his worst year, making him something of a buy-low extension candidate. Obviously the Lions like him or they wouldn't have used a "starting" draft pick to trade for him. Add onto that that he currently stands at the 3rd highest cap hit on the team and I think it would make sense to give him an extra year or two and spread that cap hit out. That being said, I don't think the Lions are going to be seeking a CB1 in the draft. I think they view Sutton and Davis as CB1a and CB1b, and will align them game by game as they see fit, with Branch at NB, Kerby at FS, and Iffy at SS.

That being said, that still feels incredibly perilous. Behind that group, you have guys like Moseley and Amik Robertson at corner, but you really have nothing at safety depth. You don't want to risk an injury there (like how CJGJ suffered one) and having nothing behind them. Further, Kerby has had cold streaks, and you can't say with 100% certainty that Iffy's late dramatic improvement is here to stay. They need to add something to that group in terms of depth. If you're gift wrapped Cooper DeJean at #29 I think you have to seriously consider it, but otherwise guys like Javon Bullard and Kamren Kitchens make sense in the 2nd and 3rd, or just depth later on. Jaden Hicks out of Wazzu is a Dan Campbell guy to keep an eye on.

    5. Depth. Can never have enough of it.

How would you feel if they drafted a kicker in the 6th or 7th?

What? What are those 4 or 5 games? I can think of Chicago but they also should have won against Dallas and probably Seattle.

There were a bunch of games where our secondary got torched and teams would march down the field to the red zone. Luckily our Linebackers played OUT OF THEIR MINDS last year and saved the day. If Anzelone didn't have a career year last year, we lose a bunch of those games. Like I said, I'll be happy if we repeat with 12 wins.

Thank the heavens we finally have a competent GM.... He's assembling another good team fixing the glaring holes. I still want them to trade back in the draft. They should keep add a Corner, DE,  WR, and then a ton of depth on O-line and D-line. I really hope we get Corner, DE and WR in the first 3 rounds..... Take projects with High risk high reward the rest of the draft for the O-line and D-line. If you hit great, if not, next year you load up on those and LB and you're set. But thats just my opinion but I don't know jack @*#$()*%@. So we'll see.

(I also wouldn't mind seeing them draft a kicker. I know Moody Crapped the bed this past year for SF [even though I wanted him] but drafting someone like him, I wouldn't mind. I just don't know if there's a kicker worth drafting this year in the 5th or 6th round... We need someone that can nail 50+ yards with relative consistency. This shouldn't be a pipe dream....)

  11. If the lions traded out of the 1st round with their pick, what could they get? Just curious. Seems like a deep draft. Could they get a 2nd and 3rd rounder back for their 1st? Or is that too much of a pipe dream?

I really don't want to be a neigh sayer here..... But the lions won probably 4 or 5 games where they should of lost last year.... If they repeat the same record, THAT would be something....... I'd be amazed if they win 12 again. I hope it happens but am not holding my breath.

He's a Ohio guy and a great recruiter. It's a huge get for Sherrone.

That's the only thing that bothered me about Jim Harbaugh. He RAAAAAAARELY ever got 5* recruits. Every year we face OSU, I've always cringed knowing their players were probably better. However, I always felt Jim was a better coach than Ryan Day.

I really hope Moore can get some highly rated 5* players and some high 4* players and really make a dynasty. It looks like this is the best recruiting staff we may have ever had. If that's the case, we could see something special for the next few years........ Here's hoping...
