Well said. I think the Lions should be agressive now too if they can. But not having a 3rd next year does hurt. Perhaps they'll trade back in the 1st or 2nd for more draft capital. If Anzolone walks, then we might need some reinforcements anyway.

The Brewers top prospect is Jesus Made.
No, this isn’t for the religion thread, that’s his name.
Dudes legit too. Gonna be a star.

Looks like O-line will be getting some love early next year 🙂

Sucks. Wish we coulda gotten one more year out of him..... Good luck to him though. He'll be missed.

Give him the key to the city. That's the most Detroit thing you could do there.
Lol.
I remember taking my little step brother to a game and there was this cop standing over a guy who was sitting on a corner bleeding cuz he was stabbed. Sheeeeeeesh. You're right, thats Detroit for you!

Torres has beyond exceeded my expectations.

That's been true for him right along. His MiLB results weren't that overwhelming either.
He is incredibly inexperienced to be where he is, so it's unfair to expect more than he is doing, which is keeping them in almost all the games he starts. I think people have gotten their expectations skewed after watching Skenes, but Skenes is a true unicorn. Almost anyone else needs 500+ IP at least at college and/or MiLB to figure out what they are doing - Jobe is just starting to get there at 300 IP total as a pro.
I agree 100%. I'm just wondering if a more experienced catcher would be able to help guide him a little more. Might be time to call in a "Crash" Davis type situation.

That stash is thiiiiiiiiiiic

MOO TO THE MOOOOOOO! GO KEITH!

ROGERS GOT DA WHEEEEEEELZ!!!!!

I wonder how much guidance Jobe has from his catchers. I just feel like he's not being led enough by them so he's guessing what will work...... Something's off with him it seems. He's better than the results show.

Funny that over the offseason people said the same about Baez too. All the more reason to kick the tires on Maeda for a bit and see if there is something there.
Baez has a .349 BABIP. I expect him to end around .280 for the year like he has been for the last few years. I don't think his resurgence is real. Man, I hope I'm wrong. But I don't think I am. If a SS gets injured somewhere, I'd try and flip him for a RP right away.

yes, but also no - Kenta Maeda was always going to be released and they could have done it in November
Exactly. Anytime you get rid of a career .400 OBP player, especially if they're on our team, I'm gonna be pissed. Dude gets on base. We don't need to "ask Pete" on this (hopefully you get this joke if you're a true baseball fan). I'll take a DH with a .400 OBP anyday.

Like I said, I wouldn't do the trade either. But that's what it'd cost to get him. Skubal an Skenes though would be a pretty good 1-2 punch, gotta admit it.

Soto deal also included Josh Bell who was in the midst of an 800+ OPS season in DC at the time of the deal.
Market for Skubal last year wasn't nearly as robust...
Skubal wasn't 5 years control making 800K

I wouldn't trade Alaskan Tigers Fan for Rosenthal. I don't even know who brought that up.

So you're saying that Alaskan Tigers Fan is Ken Rosenthal?

Nobody trades that many top 100 prospects for anyone..
It's three for Skenes. They did that for Juan Soto and Skenes is going to cost more since they get five years of control (two of which will be less than 3 million per season). We did three for Miguel Cabrera (Andrew Miller and Maybin at the time were both top 5 prospects IIRC). Just playing a lil devils advocate.

Ken Rosenthal is floating this out there. Thought I'd ask. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6376646/2025/05/23/pirates-paul-skenes-trade-mlb-notes/
Would you trade Clark, McGonigle, Bryce Rainer , Jaden Hamm and Owen Hall for Skenes? (It'd probably take that). Just curious on your thoughts.
Skubal and Skenes, not a bad 1-2 punch.
(I wouldn't do this deal but am curious what ya'll think).

Dat boi jus upped his price a lil today I think.....
-
I'm all for him signing a 7-8 year deal with opt outs after 3 or 4. Heck I'd even offer the opt outs. Get the best of him, let him walk as he gets older to alleviate the risk. Love Skub, but 40/year for 9 years, I don't see it.
-
He's not getting higher than 35 Mil at the high end. I could see 35/8 for a total of 280. But 75 mil a year? Bruh.....
-
I think it's also worth pointing out that our roster is pretty much set this year AND next year. After next year is when the contracts are gonna take a while to figure out. Not sure how many more spots we can add.... Our 53 man roster is going to be tough to maneuver minus any injuries that occur......
2025 NHL Draft
in Detroit Red Wings
Posted
If I was Yzerman, I'd offer up my 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th rounders every year for a 2nd. Then you're drafting a 1st rounder and two seconds. I thought someone once posted a chart like 95% of the players that hit are 1st and 2nd rounders...... Fill the rest in with UDFA's.
I keep seeing reports that people we draft are "below NHL average".... Like, why bother.... The hit rate has got to be astronomically low.
