Yes and it was interesting to see the runs saved for Baez up above.

Nice work by Al Avila, again. I'm looking forward to seeing Rodriguez out there, it seems like he is durable and makes all his starts, although does not go deep into them.
I think they took it easy on him this year, coming off the heart issue and a year where he couldn't pitch or even work out.

Great projection!! But please, not Javy Baez. Anything but that.
Niko Goodrum?

People would complain if they got Honus Wagner. If Avila signs a bowlegged shortstop to a 10 year deal, I'm done with this team.
To be fair, Honus is at the stage of his career where the skills are starting to fade.

Based on his defensive numbers, SS does not seem to be the place for him.
What about Major Kong?
What defensive numbers are those?

I could not agree more. I'm concerned that Baez might be willing to sign for less than drunken sailor money if he's given opt out ability. He failed to impress after his trade, and might jump at an opportunity reprove himself.
Giving Avila an opportunity to sign cheap(er) than the top available talent, while claiming he's doing the "smart" thing.
I remember the last time we had a former Cubbie shortstop, and want nothing to do with Javy.
Hey, an upgrade is an upgrade, and Baez would be a huge upgrade. Is he the perfect player, no, but he's probably in the second tier of available ss this year with Story and after Correa, Semien and Seager.

No doubt, he is someone to watch but I still wouldn't pass over a rare group of free agent shortstops because of him.
Absolutely, I'm just saying developmental stats should be taken in context.

If they get a great shortstop and Kreidler unexpectedly turns out to be good, that would be a nice problem to have. I haven't heard any of the scouting types I follow get excited about Kreidler. That doesn't mean he can't be good, but I really doubt the Tigers are counting on him. It's just people reacting to his stats and even his stats are not that impressive. Someone with a 29% k rate in AAA is likely to have trouble in the majors.
Yes, but you have to allow for his rapid ascension in what was basically his first full season of pro ball. You have to expect some struggle and adjustments from a player whose previous experience was short season ball, and give him credit for holding his own after being so aggressively challenged.

The winter meetings are still December 6-9, however they will be held remotely, rather than an in person event.
Disregard, they are in person in San Diego.

Is it true the winter meetings have been cancelled ? Tweet I saw thinks it’s lockout related. Maybe just covid precautions and they don’t need to gather to do their job?

Batting average, like ERA for pitchers, is a poor tool for evaluation, especially for small samples like a partial season.
