If a city of warren businessman that might do business with the city at some point gave Fouts 100k and said 'whatever you choose to do in the future, i'd just like to work with you', you would be good with that?

I have a customer that is a government agency, if I saw one of their employees at Starbucks on my lunch and paid for their coffee I could face consequences.

What would happen here is: I'd care about it a lot less than the president of the United States being a traitor.

Normal people don't care about Hunter Biden one way or the other. But if we can't lock people far more important than him, why should anyone go to jail?

If Trump can steal classified info, and almost certainly share it with dangerous and crazy people, why should anyone care if hunter smokes crack? Why should anyone care about a simple robbery?

If the law doesn't apply to the most important people, it shouldn't apply to anyone. You're looking at it backward.

Newsmax says she's too crazy for them. Unclear how much of this can be traced back to her assault. Hopefully she gets the help she clearly needs.

It's fun reading these things on Twitter and most of the replies are always just utterly insane people with no grasp of reality, and the vote of the "yeah, rich people drink the blood of children because Satan sent immigrants here" counts the same as mine not only that, but I'm supposed to be nice and respectful to them lol

What a country we live in

Man, Shep getting hot on the postgame! Where has that guy been for the past three years?

Where has anyone like this ever been on FSD or Bally?

I can't ever remember any criticism like this, at least not since pre 2006 times. Don't really care about Shep, but having a local media that doesn't just love everything the org does would be nice.

I doubt Avila would have lasted as long in most major markets. Imagine this organization in New York. They'd probably have strung up Chris I by now

"Struggles" doing a lotta work here given Paredes's slash line since August 5 is .250/.308/.396, good for a 107 wRC+ that, by itself, would be third-best on our team since then, behind only Willi (118 wRC+) and Victor (111 wRC+).

If we were looking at WAR, Paredes would be tied for best with Willi at 0.3.

The Tigers need a second Willi Castro like I need to watch the first Willi Castro play

I don't think Soto gets us a solid position player in return.

Eduardo Rodriguez might get us a return provided (1) the Tigers send eight figures in cash along with him to seal the deal; and (2) he will have to prove he can stay on the roster.

Yeah, that's why I threw the deadline caveat in there. Obviously his value is trash right now

  6. Manning has thrown like 100 middling innings in an injury riddled career.

The only pitchers I see having much value right now are Soto (someone will pay for saves) and Eduardo Rodriguez at next year's deadline if he has a good first half next season.

Everyone else is injured, bad, or a middle reliever or minor leaguer

  7. The bottom line is that Al Avila is the most important employee of a multi million (billion?) dollar business.

By any metric, finances, success on the field, fan support, the franchises standing in the league, etc, he's done a terrible job.

Outside of sports he'd have gotten a golden parachute a long time ago, sadly, that's not how absentee sports owners run things.

Which leads to the real problem. If you're not going to spend and win, and you're not going to win with smaller budgets like the Rays or whoever, why on earth do you own the team? Avila needs to go, but the buck does stop with the owner in the end.

Edit: With regards to Stewart, how many players on our mlb roster can catch up to a good fastball these days? We're one of the worst teams in history at this. Perhaps he's more of a symptom of the current regime than we realized.

And if everyone is sick of patience, or has none left, then...

    Too fucking bad.

Not to be rude but... the only way the team structure changes is if Avila makes changes or if Ilitch decides to make a change to the "man at the top (AA)". Otherwise....

So you're sort of stuck. You have no choice but to live with this team as is, and with all these rookies coming up, until Ilitch says different. One can always just walk away if you've had enough with patience.

But I've seen enough to know to stick with this team. Maybe I'm influenced by my teenage years when Whitaker/ Trammell/ Morris/ Rozema/ Petry/ Parrish/ Gibson/ Kemp/ Jason Thompson/ and others all came up at the same time and that may be clouding my vision... But I don't think so.

Worst news: Those guys all came up essentially from 1977-1979... And I had to WAIT FIVE YEARS MORE before they won a championship in 1984.

I've learned something with that experience... it's called patience.

Cool, I've learned that being patient with morons is how things like your avatar happen, so I'd rather pull the plug now rather than wait and see the Tigers go 30-132 in five years

that's a bit revisionist. Stewart's best BA at AAA was 260, so having him come up and not be able to break 220 shouldn't have been a big surprise. He hit for good power in the minors, but was never the kind of hitter in the minors that would make you think he would be a good hitter in the majors - you could only hope at best he would be a Rob Deer type, low OBP, maybe good power, but he wasn't even that.

Sure, and if we had a 23 year old with a. 850 ops and 30 dongs in a pitcher friendly AA right now everyone would be calling them a top prospect, not like those bums from the past
