  1. The aha moment here is that he is trying to avoid sanctions on behalf of Putin's croneys so they can funnel their cash, their fuel etc.
  2. He's really threading a needle since he owes his regime survival to Putin.
  3. Zelensky won't be hurt if someone throws a tent peg into the turf.
  4. The west is throwing a lot of hardware into Eastern Europe and we may be entering Hunt for Red October levels of dangerous intermingling.
  5. The whole world wasn't condemning OSU's blatant recruiting violations and hand-wave approach to academics. The problem will be if the Michigan Football program drags the Baltimore Ravens into the game because of its natural sympathies and that leads to a larger game.
  6. Good news overall for European stability. If he was willing to allow Putin to use his army it would have raised the spectre of Vladdie making a grab for a corridor to Kaliningrad

  17. i’m willing to take that chance
  18. I just had a laugh when i realized what this is: The Halo effect. Hard to attribute a halo to Putin but, yeah...that was it.
  19. We knew that in our brains. We just couldn't trust that. The extrapolation of Putin's savage technical brilliance to his armed forces was a cognitive error. What do we call that.
  20. This is me totally
  21. You don't want an actor like Ronald Reagan as president until you need someone to do this https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2022/02/27/russia-ukraine-sanctions-swift-central-bank/
  22. This is awesome
  23. My colleagues were very pessimistic that Russia would knock out the internet and it would all be dark. Welp, that assumption like others was wrong.
  24. I can see that. He may think he can do that. I don't know if sanctions survive peaceful occupation on the current lines. Germany has too much to lose.
