Jones is one of those guys who isn't fast and he isn't big, but he will make plays. He doesn't have to make any long plays to be effective.

Rhiannon Giddens is coming to Ann Arbor in September, by the way. We're playing her new single today for New Music Monday on 107one, I think it's in the 1pm hour. I put on a Yacht Rock mix this morning on Spotify. I've gotten to the point in my life when I am no longer ashamed to admit that I love Yacht Rock. I also love funk, punk, indie, rock, jazz, bossa nova and classical, but anyway, during the Yacht Rock mix the song Sharing The Night Together by Dr. Hook came on and I never liked that song, but now, thanks to the movie "El Camino" it makes me think of that creepy Todd Alquist (Jesse Plemons) because he loved that song and now the song kinda gives me the creeps.

2023 MLB (non-Tigers) catch all thread
Motor City Sonics replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Detroit Tigers
Reminds me of Keysawn Johnson vs. the Lions in his rookie year. He made a catch for a first down and got up and made this ridiculous gesture..........the Jets were 0-8 at the time. The network announcer called him out on that, too. -

I know why it is. Because every time he gets a ****ing base hit he acts like it was the World Series-winning hit. Act like you've been there. Have some damned dignity. By the way, the Tigers., bad as they are, are closer to that World Series than you are, Timmy. Keep that left up next time.............or actually don't, that would be fun to see again. -
Your last line. A lot of violence will come first. My biggest fear is someone comes along that plays to them, but has more intelligence and self-control and would be able to grab some back from the center.

Hey, he got a lot better once they got rid of Jamie Collins and the defensive backs coach.

I hope Tim Anderson is okay in the long run, but part of me did kind of chuckle. I can't stand him. Dude trash talks and brags if he ties his shoes correctly. Nice season, White Sux. -
You're being asked to sacrifice for your country's future. I think it's a small ask.

Give them Florida. They can all move there and leave the rest of us alone. Put that big wall up around Florida and let them tear each other to shreds and drop into a giant sinkhole.

Dear Baseball Reference, don't do that ever again, make it challenging. -
He can't help himself. He's an addict. And a dumb one, at that.

and we all know why, don't we? It's the same reason Jason Aldean's stupid song went to #1 and Morgan Waller's records spiked in sales after the video of him saying the n-word came out. Many in America has been waiting for an overt, hateful racist. He's also an insult comic who isn't funny. The dogwhistle racism of much of the Republican party since Nixon used the Southern Strategy was not enough. They need it shouted from a bullhorn and that's why he will never go below a certain point with popularity. It sucks. I hate being in a country with so much promise that is bogged down with so much hate. None of that hate advances the people who wrap themselves in it and it goes against absolutely everything that the one they all claim to worship preached. Took Ireland a century to finally be done with that kind of ****e and now there's a solid peace there, the safest country in Europe. It's no longer a fragile peace, it's real and the ones on each side there that still preach hate are all a bunch of bitter old men and nobody wants to hear them anymore. Feels like we're a long way off from getting there.

He should hire Scientology's lawyers. They know how to lawyer for a cult.

You know what wouldn't surprise me at this point? If Dump wound up "hiring" a private militia to surround Mar-A-Lago. I only put hiring in quotes because he'd never pay them, because he never pays anyone, because he doesn't have anywhere close to the money he claims. That if the feds want to get Dump, they'll have to risk a firefight and you better believe he would be more than willing to put innocent people (aka guests at his resort) at risk and use them as human shields. Nothing is off the table with this son of a bitch. There'd be plenty of gung-ho gun nuts that would be willing to do this for free.

Why do people believe a player needs to be older to be a DH. If he is a good enough OBP guy but he can't field a lick, then use him the way he should be used and don't try to force it. He'd have to learn so much to be a Catcher that it would probably distract him from improving as a hitter. He's just a DH that can fill in the corners in the OF when they need it.
-
Wow, Didn't hear that. I hope he can work it out, but I remember Nick Esasky (who, if I remember right, was pretty comparable to Meadows hitting-wise). Esasky never came back from the Vertigo issue.
-
I think they've kind of moved on from him like they have with Austin Meadows. Has there been ANY news on him lately? It's almost like he never existed.

But what about Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST HUNTER BIDEN !?!?!?!?!?!?

Maybe, just maybe Rodiguez likes it here because it's more low key. He went through something last year. The media in this town (and the fans) pretty much left him alone. Think he gets that in New York, Boston or Philly? Maybe his wife hates Los Angeles. I stay with a friend in LA for 8 weeks, after 10 days I couldn't wait to get home. It's not for everyone (unless you like endless generic strip malls and taking 2 hours to 10 miles). He might actually want to stay here. Even if he doesn't, then we earmark that $17 million to another free agent next year. Now if he bolts and Chris Illitch/Scott Harris refuse to spend anything after lopping over $50 million off the payroll - yeah, then I'll be pretty pissed, But again, it's all about 2025. It doesn't matter until then, really.

I spent 6 weeks in Los Angeles one year and while it was cool the first 10 days, after that it sucked. Strip Malls & Traffic Jams as far as the eye can see. Gonna go to the beach today? Well, even though the beach is 12 miles away, I don't want to invest in the 2 1/2 hours it'll take to get there, so no thanks.

The fact that our "sort of" GM did not cave and accept less than he wanted is a good thing for the future. Who knows, maybe E-Rod stays after all but even if he's gone, it's better to not accept 3 guys who'll never make a difference. Hold firm "I want one of these guys or no deal". Other team says "How about these guys instead?" "Nope". If that is what happened yesterday, then in the future (next year) other teams will know he means it. I mean, they aren't contending next year, even if the division is weak again. They'll probably make it interesting for a few weeks at the end this year, get us all riled up for next season and then start out something like 6-20 again and never catch up. Seems to be their thing now. It's all about '25 !

When I was doing afternoons on WTKA, we had Henning as a guest and he actually said Scott Sizemore was a better defensive player than Placido Polanco. I've kind of doubted his judgement since then.
