  1. Well, I kinda feel my point has some validity. the "confirmation bias" aspect of analytics is ripe for picking. And it always seems as though patrons of the art know no bounds as far as the extent they are willing to go to try and support their preferred outlook . I'd imagine there are even some redeeming aspects of Charles Manson one could point out, if they were wiling to dig deep enough. If a player isn't hitting.....and he's striking out on pitches at his shoelaces......any counterargument claiming he's not so bad on certain synthetic benchmarks...really is not (IMO) a persuasive defense. Now, of course, if the team is winning ballgames, then it's easier for me to be tolerant of what I otherwise might just discount as "fluff"
  2. I was just trying to reply in context
  3. Yeah, I'm sure he'll turn it around as soon as they resume winding the baseballs tighter. Then our bulletproof bullpen will likely have a reckoning?
  4. I know that stats can be kind of a p0rn for some people. Reams and reams of data to support notions of achievement, prowess, accomplishment. If I was playing "Baseball Mogul" I might lean further in that direction. But they don't award the commissioner's trophy for whips, dips Babips and flips....
  5. LOL, evidently your metrics for "here" differ from mine? 😋
  6. This place is less than a year old, how do you measure "long"?
  7. That, IMO, is really the pitfall many of you analytics fans make for yourselves. By using synthetic benchmarks, you look for things that can support whatever argument you want to make. confirmation bias with a mathematical twist. I'm not faulting you for your philosophy, I'm just saying that my standards are less forgiving. The stats I favor are "W" over "L" Runs, dingers and RBI,... bro.... I'm Oldskool
  8. If I thought that blind allegiance would right the ship, then I'd be doing that. My best hope is that my usual fate will kick in, and he'll shove my criticism up my azz. I think that's the best hope we have. Look, the season is roughly 1/4 over...let's project his YTD stats into an anticipated yearly total 92 hits .204 BA 8 HR 32 runs scored 44 RBI 12 errors How is it again that we spell "wooo hoooo"?
  9. Plus don't forget the short spring training And, it's been cool this spring And he had the shortened covid season two years ago And.........
  10. Two Weeks? I'm looking at his YTD performance...it's .......Neifi'ish
  11. You guys should be happy? Baez keeps playing like this up until the All Star break, there'll be NO WAY action Al will be able to trade him for "cheap and controllable" at the deadline
  12. Yeah, but Paredes has that Miggy like kinked knee... inducing a weigh shift.......Baez has more of a tin soldier approach.
  13. I've been examining his mechanics. His stance is so open that I think it deprives him of the outer part of the zone (a "reach" thing)....maybe if he squared around in a more conventional stance with both feet equidistant from the plate. That might help. And is their any way we might resurrect Eddie Brinkman to work on Baez' grip?
  14. That's fine, I'm confident that you'll like the version I eventually do for Javy. even better.
  15. Chasfh, I'm ready for him to end his "occasional" cold streak, any time. His drought is approaching Sheffield proportions.....and we all remember how that one played out.
  16. Shortstop, former Cub, ostensibly a good glove, a Mendoza-like batting average, and 11 RBI. When he stops reminding me of Neifi Perez...I'm confident that my comparisons will stop.😀
  17. I do like you guys. If I didn't,.. I wouldn't keep coming back. The base insults eg. "stupid" "idiot" etc I feel to be a bit beneath me, but other than that, we're good.
  18. There was an old Dr Demento song about Idi Amin (the most amazing man you've ever seen). That me and a couple others at the old MLB Tigers board jacked the lyrics around to suit Neifi Perez. This past couple weeks that old tune has been my "walk up" music for Mr Baez...and if he doesn't turn it around soon, I'm gonna EXAGGERATE a set of custom lyics, just for him 😮
  19. WHOA!! Are you perhaps trying to pry the door jamb open a little wider than it should be?
  20. I don't recall feeling "rooked" as a result of the Tigers rostering a former shortstop from the Rockies, Astros, or Dodgers....so I think the smart money would wager that my prior thought processes never evolved that far...
  21. Budda, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit? Let him prove me wrong. I'm man enough to admit it, if he's man enough to pull it off, But, what he accomplished as a cub, means very little to me
  22. Hey if you guys choose to believe that thinking only positive thoughts will turn Baez' fortunes around....by all means knock yourselves out' But for me, it doesn't work that way. It's "entertainment" And BOTH faces, IMO, serve their purpose
  23. I guess that I am just a terrible guy? I get that a lot.
  24. The problem with Baez, IMO is too much testosterone. He's like a bull up there chasing the red cape, down onto the dirt, and a foot off the plate. And the other guys know this.
  25. Nope not messing with you, just defending my right to believe as I prefer Being criticized for failure to share the popular POV, really isn't a game changer for me.
