that pile started moving when Sewell hit it.
Yes. Just imagine if we had a QB who could really open up the running game.

Say what you will about Campbell, but I can't remember a Lions running game that regularly moves the pile 3-5 years as they did on that Swift carry late in the 2nd. The running game is not there yet, but it is looking up.

You're talking to the guy who thought this was a 9 win team.
Well if not for Campbell they’d already be 13-0!

Goff's revenge: He engineers a garbage time drive which leads to a last second field goal that makes the final score 38-23, just narrowly covering the spread.

He had to trade for Goff the second time in order to make the salary work for the Rams. I would think Holmes, Dorsey, and Agnew can look at Goff and see he isn't the guy long-term. Holmes may have really loved Goff at one time or maybe it was Les Snead. But John Dorsey has no connection to Goff at all and thus I would assume, little to no loyalty to the guy. If Dorsey is a strong voice in the room, I can't imagine given that he's drafted QB replacements before, he would be all in for Goff.
It is possible that Holmes never meant anything he said about Goff after the trade.

But is Holmes the one who drafted Goff 1-1? That would scare me a bit.
Yes, he has traded for Goff twice. This is a red flag.

But that was about 4 or 5 head coaches and 2 or 3 GMs ago. Finding a QB like Stafford isn't easy, no matter how many 1st round picks you have.
What about that post suggested that finding a QB like Stafford was easy?

I thought Goff might be OK. He’s worse than I thought possible.

I think MCS' issue is that the Lions made is seem like they had multiple teams lining up to trade for him. Cutting him wasn't the issue, it was the smokescreen of trying to make it look like they were getting something for him.
Now, perhaps they were doing that in and effort to try to drum up interest from another team, but that seems rather silly. I can't imagine any teams front office would fall for that... thinking they better make a trade off before some other team snatched up with asset.
I get it, but really, we are going to get offended as fans because the team tried and failed to obtain some return for an asset they valued at zero? Like the team owes us as fans complete and accurate information on every call they receive? Maybe they ought to dial all of us up on draft night as well.

What about all those suitors for Jamie Collins?
To me this is the first big Faux Pas for Holmes & Campbell. Don't say that unless it's true. Don't treat us like we're stupid.
Meh. Once they decided the last regime's guy did not have the right attitude you knew they would get rid of him. They had decided he was worth nothing to them and put him out there for a day in case there might be two teams that wanted to take a pass.

I hate watching the Rams because I keep thinking this could have been the Lions. They had the hall of fame receiver. They had a dominant DT like Donald and they didn't even win a playoff game.
THEY COULD HAVE HAD DONALD!!!
Sorry for shouting. I know you’re aware.

PS: I think you mean 343 yards... typo.
It was 3434 yards. He threw for a whole season today. Hats off!

Anybody watching Stafford light up the Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady Buccaneers?
Halfway through the 4th quarter, up 34-17, he's 27-38 for 434, 4 TDs, 0 INTs.
-
Second false start on a fourth and short.
-
Losing a fumble recovery to a procedure penalty. There's the Lions I know.
-
False start on 4th and 1. Lionesque.
-
That pass back to the QB. It's a new low.

Lamar Jackson missed todays practice after complaining yesterday his hip was bothering him from flipping in the end zone Sunday.
The team said he was sick and that's why he missed but I wouldn't be surprised if it was indeed his hip and they are just covering it so Lamar doesn't get heat.
Anyway just figured I post that since we play the Ravens on Sunday and it looks like there is atleast a chance Lamar won't be 100%. Of course with that said him at 75% could probably still carve up this defense.
It is good to know he won’t flip into the end zone against the Lions, but will simply walk in just like everyone else.

That wasn't close to being a fumble or intentional grounding.
On second thought you’re right. He looked like Johnny Unitas on that throw, which a Packer pounced on and the refs huddled to discuss.
Maybe you thought Goff performed well, and you are probably right, that was one of his better plays on a night when he lost two fumbles.
-
Yeah I’ve been dying to figure out where the hell the forum went so I could complain about Goff. Two fumbles plus an ugly intentional grounding which could easily have been ruled a fumble.
I see guys like Wojo talking about how bad the defense is, but you have the Coach pointing out that the other team didn’t cough it up and saying “that’s what a towel is for.” I’d say Goff is already on the hot seat.
