I think there could be some bi-partisan support for most of this even if there was some slight modifications to it. What about this

Either 3a or part of 4) checks include social media review

    and

    9) For any of the above reasons you are denied a gun, you are automatically put into some mental health program.

By all means, define "mental health program".  It's so sickening that this is the fall back, "mental health".  Do tell as well, who is going to pay for all the "mental health programs"?

A good friend of mine has a daughter who is schizophrenic.  She sat in the psych ER for DAYS waiting for a bed to open up in a psych hospital.  The parents are a physician and a CPA, so not a financial issue.  The Trumprturds are treating mental health just like they are the LGBT community.  They're acting like this is just all some new craze based on the lack of "god". When the reality is it's always been a thing.  Just like the Republicans to call for a complicated vague solution and then vote against every program that would work to accomplish that.

What leadership looks like.  Systematically dismantling all the Republican talking points.   In person, not on Twitter whining, not backing down, not being quiet, not allowing interruptions.  Beautiful.  Much, much more of this.

I love how a few Supreme Court justices had their panties in a wad over some peaceful protesters at their homes, and boom, next day, congress acts.  A few dozen kids get slaughtered, well... now isn't the time...

You're a good sheep MB. Good, good sheep. Stelter and Lemon tell you it's Horse Dewormer, ignoring that it's also a human drug and you fall right in line. Gee, I wonder why these news outlets want to dismiss the fact that it might be helpful in treating Covid? Anyone have a clue? Anyone? Buehler?

Credible news sources are dismissing it because it has been dismissed in the scientific community.  Remember Hydroxychloroquine?  The miracle cure, according to the Trumpturds.  It was so great, Trump didn't take it when he got it.  Oops.  Then the sheep shifted to Ivermectin.

You're spot on with everything you posted, i'm only singling this portion out, not because you're wrong, but just a point I want to make.  I may be off a bit, but i'm pretty confident the last time I read about when abortions happened, 99% of abortions occur by the mid-way point of the second trimester.  So your point above is well taken.

But that brings me back to this past week when if the dems only put in a ban in the third trimester outside of the health of the mother, you might have seen it pass.

So to me, the Dems are willing to allow what we know is likely inevitable to happen, in the hopes that they only get beat a little bit in the mid-terms.  Instead of doing something that their voters want, they are once again choosing to use it as a campaign issue.  How did that work out for them with Garland?  I don't get it.

Admittedly, I don't know all the exact details of the bill, but I am fairly sure that there was no wording in the bill that specifically permitted third trimester abortions.  My understanding is that it lifted the restrictions of current state laws that prohibited abortions at 6 weeks, etc, required ultrasounds, waiting periods, things like that.  Again,  virtually no one is in favor of third trimester abortions without the usual caveats.  It's about going back to the previous status quo of Roe vs. Wade before fake Christians took over.

Oblong is right.  The rhetoric just keeps getting more extreme.  Not even in favor of saving the mother's life, not in favor of exceptions for rape or incest, wanting to *save* ectopic pregnancies. Not interested in life at all.

Well, I'm sure that is the case with some issues, but it's not the case with all.  We treat our pets more humanely at end of life than we do our own grandparents, but that's just my opinion.

Additionally, it's tough to say 'medical fact'.  What is true today in medicine, doesn't mean it's true tomorrow.  Most people do not support abortions through the third trimester. My opinion on that is most start to look at the baby bump on a mom as a baby, not a fetus, at that point.  Add in the fact that fetus' can survive without their mother as early as late 2nd trimester and it adds to the argument that they are separate human beings at that point.  My sister was the smallest baby to survive in Michigan at the time she was born, now babies born 2-3 weeks earlier than her still have over a 50% chance of survival.

Still though, your point you're making on the opposition is spot on, there is no change for a legitimate debate with folks that are extreme.  In the end, I'm with Bill Clinton, I want abortions to be safe, legal, and rare.

You kind of made the point I was trying to make...In a nutshell, Roe vs Wade, legalized abortion basically without restrictions in the first trimester...banned them in the third trimester with the exception of the mother's or fetus being in a life threatening situation...the second trimester was more open to restrictions.

So OF COURSE everyone is against third trimester abortions, because they don't happen.  The Archie Deflector nuts have their cult believing there are tens of thousands of women 9 months pregnant lined up at abortion clinics waiting to abort their pregnancy.  The reality is much different.  Even for women whose lives are in danger face a nearly impossible task to try and end their pregnancy.  It's outrageously expensive (10k or more) and requires an out of state trip and there are literally only a couple of physicians in the entire country who will risk their lives to perform them.  Ireland legalized abortion after ONE woman in her second trimester died after doctors refused to induce labor when her fetus had already died.

Late Term/partial birth abortions, CRT, open borders, etc...all non existent dog whistles that make the sheep salivate.

There is a fact though that we need a legal standing, not just a medical one.  Most states have laws on the books which add charges for killing an fetus during a felony.  Even in blue states, democrats have conceded that a wanted baby is worthy of having the hands of justice defend it.   There is no medical book out there that will say there is a medical difference between a wanted or unwanted fetus.

I'm not sure what the answer should be, but playing politics with this issue isn't benefiting the country.  I think the Dems could have codified abortion after a set period and/or after the case of rape, incest, and the health of the mother.  Instead, it lives to play it's part in the 2022 election.   To note - pretty much all of the outrage towards the GOP I've read in the last few pages is justified as well.

Fair enough, but laws are often based on medical facts...at least they used to be...That there are lawmakers actually attempting to criminalize ectopic pregnancies is so beyond preposterous, it's hard to even wrap my brain around.  In the past, it wasn't even considered not to have exceptions for rape and incest or to save the life of the mother, not that's a common talking point.  There aren't numbers or facts that will pacify the Archie Deflectors.  They really don't even know what they're against or why, don't care if people die or if lives are destroyed, but it owns the libs.

Some of these comments show complete ignorance to the issue.  When you have no argument you resort to lies and name calling. You can always tell who the liberals are.  Then another person goes from an abortion expert to a body armor expert in less than 24 hours.  I bet you've never seen anyone hit wearing body armor? If you think someone wearing it is Superman, let me assure you its not the case.  Go ahead and think your ignorance will protect you....I'll keep my firearms. Thank you!

Okay, then, Deflector Archie, please enlighten us all on your body armor expertise.  Still waiting on intrinsic knowledge of abortion law.

Since I know you're a stickler for facts, by all means please post where I said I was an expert on anything.  You do the cult playbook really well, though.

Do you realize that the vast majority of people carrying firearms are law abiding citizens and not the people you have to worry about?  It the people who are carrying illegally are the ones that are dangerous.  If there was anyone armed at any of the shootings that could have returned fire it could have saved lives.  Its very difficult to carry a firearm in NY so its basically a gun free zone.  The easiest thing to find in a gun free zone are potential victims...a lot of potential victims and that's why they are so popular with cowards that do these shootings.

Do you realize there was an armed security guard at the store who fired at the assailant, but the extensive body armor he had made it impenetrable?  The security guard was murdered, as was an off duty police officer.  So STFU about being armed being the answer.

Maybe the elderly woman who was there to get groceries for the homeless was secretly a BLM supporter and he had to shoot her in self defense.

I know what the law is but I was asking for your liberal opinion on what you think it should be.  I think you know what I was asking and you're just deflecting.

Oh, and here I thought you wanted my thoughts as an adjunct Histology and Embryology instructor.  Stupid me.

Since you're so against deflecting, by all means enlighten me on the laws.

Oh really, so how far along in a pregnancy should an abortion no longer be performed?

So you're saying you have no idea what the law is?  Thought so.  Usually those that go on about "late term abortions" know absolutely nothing about it or that it isn't actually a thing.    Kind of like CRT.  But they brainwashed sheep hear something on Fox News and get all bent out of shape over something that doesn't actually exist.

Not really. There all kinds of false info from the Biden admin about inflation, jobs and the economy.  Except Joe doesn't know it because he can't remember what he said or doesn't know what he's going to say next.

Just because someone doesn't believe something is bad doesn't mean it isn't.  A former MSU basketball player was shot and killed last week.  The guy who shot him believes he was justified so should we would just let him walk?

When someone says guns have killed more kids that abortion it's a very ignorant statement and takes all credibility away from their argument.

    Embryos aren't kids.

Kacie does bring up a good point. It’s seems the room here thinks that if the doctor tells you the baby will be special needs you should have the right to terminate and try again next time?

I think anyone should be able to terminate a pregnancy because they choose to for whatever reason, just as I did.  You're saying let all children be born and let them suffer because the parents may not have the ability to provide care?  You will offer to adopt and provide all the financial and emotional support needed, right?  You're pro life but not willing to actually help children? Got it.  You totally care about life as long as it doesn't inconvenience you or your pocketbook.  How very Christian of you.  Let me guess, you think ectopic pregnancies should be saved?  LOL

The same people trying to ban abortion are also against gun control.  That is not false.  Same people who don't give a shit about putting immigrant children in cages at the border. Same people who didn't care if old and fat people died from COVID. Same people who think rape is an opportunity that you should just relax and enjoy.  Same people who don't care that women are dying from lack of pre natal care and post partum depression.

No one is bragging but I believe as do many others that life begins at the point of conception.

You may has missed my post earlier that my Grandma was a Holocaust survivor and took my family to MANY Anti-abortion vigils and marches. Don't twist words to sound cute.

A baby at 2 weeks inside the womb is still the same baby two weeks after birth. There is no trap, that fetus, embryo is still a BABY.

Sorry I am not fire bombing abortion clinics but thats also not what Jesus would have done. He would lead a march or cross a bridge in Selma.

Sorry to bring up your faith, I apologize for that. I enjoy your posts most of the time but we will just have to agree to disagree.

Then child support should start at conception?  Government assistance should start at conception? If men are held responsible and it has a financial impact on others, abortion would suddenly become easily available.

The same people who profess to be so concerned about the "unborn" couldn't give a rat's ass when the babies are born.

Most who think adoption is the answer haven't adopted.  Most who think it's wrong to terminate those with special needs aren't in favor of providing funds for life time education and care.  Most are unconcerned that guns are slaughtering children more often than abortion.  Most aren't in favor of paid parental leave, medicare for all, child care credits, free student lunches, student loan relief...all things that would likely reduce the incidence of needing to terminate a pregnancy.

If only the baby killer crowd put the same amount of effort into pregnancy prevention as they did into stopping abortion.  Why isn't Jesus preventing unwanted pregnancies and giving babies to those who are having trouble conceiving?  Why isn't Jesus providing funds for those who can't afford babies?

If you want to know when a zygote becomes an embryo, a fetus, a baby, read a science book.  It's all in there.

FWIW, the "Bible" says life begins at first breath.  So it's settled.

  14. I get the thought process, but unless they can get a relative can't miss generational talent like Connor Bedard, they need to keep Dylan and add around him.  Not unlike what they did with Yzerman.  Stevie didn't win his first Cup until he was 32 and they had added pieces around him like Fedorov, Larionov and Shanahan.  Dylan is 25 and is a 30 goal scorer.  I feel like Yzerman is on the right track with the guys we have in the pipeline and will add pieces and a coach who can maximize their talents.

  15. I think with Shep, he doesn't have that depth perception or whatever to be able to tell how far a ball has been hit.  So many times you just get the ho hum, fly ball to left field and often times you know it's gone before he does.  He doesn't have that "crescendo" thing going on like DD does.  Fly ball!  Way Back!!!  It's deeep!!!

Don't love Gibby or Morris either.  With Gibby's health, if working games helps his physical condition, it's all good. Some cringey moments for sure with him.  One would think a time will come in the not too distant future when he's unable to continue because of it.  Morris often has good analysis, but his ego/back in my day take gets in the way too often. CMo has improved but he needs better flow and has to get more of his own style instead of a Rod Allen clone.

  16. What's a guy gotta do to get fired these days?  Been a Detroit sports fan for a long time, and have never seen so many excuses and deflection of blame than has been afforded to Blashill.  It's mind boggling to me.  Don't know if it's because Yzerman is at the helm or fans have it in their mind that it's impossible to win without 10 Hall of Famers on the team or what. Tired of hearing how he doesn't have talent, blah blah blah.    I'd like to think this is his last season, but I've thought that the last several seasons.  It's been brutal to watch these past few months.  It's not necessarily about winning every game, but the lack of competitiveness and motivation has been startling.  It's concerning how it will effect the players long term.

You're kidding, right?    Move past the best regular season game I've ever seen?   Even without the fights it was a great game, but with the fights?   No, I will relive this one forever.

Nope, not kidding.  Again, very exciting, great game and all that. Have great memories of it all.  It's just starting to get that Progressive commercial becoming your parents kind of thing.  I can remember as all the endless talk of the '68 Tigers as a kid from the "old people".  Cool at first, but after a while, you realize they're still talking about the good old days, because the current teams aren't so great.  We've heard the same stories over and over, mostly from McCarty who doesn't seem to have a whole lot else going on.  He's become a caricature, doing money making events with Claude Lemieux.  Then having Mickey pretend to do the commentary because he missed it...just all kind of cringey.  Not saying forget the whole thing happened,  or not enjoy the memories, but I'm kind of ready for a new chapter.
