assuming Candelario can't get his stroke back.

Candelario is as good as gone at the end of the year.  It doesn't even matter who they put there, it will be an upgrade.

  2. It would be nice to call up a guy from the minors and just have them be able to hit at least league average with average power.

How can you have a rebuild going on for 6 or 7 years, trade away a bunch of all stars for prospects, draft in the top 10 every year, and end up with no players that would start on basically any other team?

Jace Jung - Alliteration is good, but his name is Jace.  He'll be overrated.

I don't believe this qualifies as alliteration.  I believe his last name is pronounced Young; although, if I am incorrect on the pronunciation, I apologize.

This is true but with my experience from seeing fans in other message boards or social media nobody is more guilty of this than Yankees fans.

No one is more delusional in all of sports than Detroit Lions fans.

I don't know about baseball, but I remember at the beginning of the year hearing Tigers fans talk about how Mize, Skubal, and Manning were all aces and were going to compete for the Cy Young.  Torkelson and Greene were going to run away with the ROY voting.  Torkelson would be in consideration for the MVP...

  5. Great bullpen and some overachieving starting pitchers.

Eric Haase is really the only Tiger who hits the ball regularly with authority.  It didn't look good for the Tigers at the beginning of they year, but they are even worse at hitting major league pitching than I thought they would be.  Next year isn't going to be any better.

  6. No way Baez moves to 2nd base.  He wouldn't be on board with that.  No one in the Tigers organization would have the balls to make the decision or to tell Baez that they are moving him to 2nd base.

This is the worst hitting Tigers team I can remember.

The only player on the Tigers that regularly hits the ball with authority is Eric Haase.

The Tigers have the worst  hitting  catcher, 1st baseman, 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman, and collective outfield in the league.

Cabrera is strictly a singles hitter, and Baez goes through long stretches of suckiness.

If they don't make major changes next year, this team is going to be bottom of the barrel again next year.

Andrew Luck, Barry Sanders and Calvin come to mind

These aren't anything close to the situation that Rodriguez is in.

Luck quit because he was injured constantly and was sick of playing.  He never ghosted his organization, and in fact let the owner know well in advance (even though it wasn't reported to the media at the time).  Players quit football all the time because they don't want to be permanently injured.

I have a feeling that there is something ominous about this.

  8. I went to a game where there were probably only 3,000 in the stands.  Bobby ran out to his left field position and threw a ball to a lady that he had been flirting with .  He was busy checking her out when a ball was hit to him and he misjudged it.  The guy ended up with a triple but Higgy didn't give a damn.  It was funny because no one else in the ballpark (except the pitcher) cared either.

It was also funny because when we went to get our tickets we asked for the cheapest tickets and they were like 6 bucks or something.  And the guy said don't go sit in those seats though because they were in the upper level.  We ended up sitting about 3 rows from the field.

  9. Why would he resign?  There are zero consequences for anything that the guy does.  I am sure some coach will get the ax instead of the guy who constructed the roster.  The lineup tonight, other than Barnhardt (mostly for his defense) and Baez (even though he is dreadful) would be about the only guys who would start for even 5 of the other teams in MLB.

Are there any players Coolbaugh can point to as accomplishments so far?

I mean, a cook can only do so much with rotten meat.

There are a minimum of 4 or 5 starting players on this team that wouldn't even probably make the roster of 2/3s of the teams in MLB.

Tork both look to be on track,

He looks completely overmatched usually.  I know he is only 22, but he plays at a position where he has to produce and produce right away.  Not like the Tigers have any other options at the position though.  Power hitting or good hitting first basemen are everywhere.  You really have to hit well and hit with power to stand out.  That's probably one of the reason 1st baseman are rarely ever drafted in the top 10.

If MLB wanted to make the regular season more interesting for losing teams, they could do this!  It's a lot more exciting than a lottery pick or seeing how much money your favorite team can save.  Yeah, I know we don't know how to do that in America and it will never happen

The Tigers would be monsters in the PCL or International League.

If they did it for football, the Lions would dominate the MAC.

  13. This will be 5 out of 8 years the Tigers have ended in 5th place (I have no hope this year).  6 years in a row under .500 (still has a way to go when they were under .500 for 12 straight years right when Illitch bought the team.  Avila's strategy of sucking for a decade probably isn't going to gain a lot of fans.
