  1. Drew Anderson pitched well in Korea and has pretty good heat. I can see him in our bullpen.
  2. I do not trust Scott Harris’s judgement on free agent signings or trades. I also think he made a mistake with the Torres qualifying offer. For a couple years he has said he would use our own system, free agency, and trades to improve going forward. We have heard from Harris and Greenberg we need to address our bullpen, but still waiting while 2 hard throwing relievers signed elsewhere. One of those, Helsley, they wanted to convert to being a starter while Helsley wanted to remain a reliever. He signed with the Orioles. Harris has done a good job improving our minor league system and signing Torres last season, however, he has failed to increase our chances of getting to the World Series through trade or free agency in my opinion.
  3. I would offer a 2nd year, but still pursue Fairbanks..
  4. You snooze you lose! Two decent relievers already off the board. Harris is snoozing at he wheel!
  5. Devin Williams signs for three years with the Mets. As expected from Scott Harris, crickets.
  6. Illitch and Harris are so cheap Hensley signed with the Orioles? Tigers blew their load on Torres and Flaherty. He would have helped our bullpen, but will now help the Orioles.
  7. I do not think the Tigers were expecting both Flaherty and Torres to be back. That is $42.5 million they thought they could spend in free agency or for Skubal. Besides a reliever or two, I highly doubt that Illitch and Harris will do anything with the offense to improve our chances, meaning we will continue to fight for a wildcard spot, be eliminated, then lose Skubal after 1 more season for basically nothing.
  8. Yikes! I go to one thread and they are talking 1950-60 TV’s, here? Chilli. For the record, not that anyone here cares, but I wouldn’t mind Helsley and his 100-102 heater as a reliever, but not a converted starter.
  9. I see I haven’t missed much in the last 48 hours! However, if you want to talk Avilia and TV’s you are probably in your glory.
  10. Without adding to the offense and addressing the strikeouts, this is still a fringe wildcard team. We will again be shutdown by quality pitching opponents. I can appreciate the Mets, Dodgers, and Red Sox trying to improve their rosters.
  11. Still an over abundance of mediocre short stops and third baseman, except for McGonigle and Anderson. Would love Bregman or Suarez but highly doubt the Tigers will offer.
  12. We are still a flawed hitting team that strikes out too much. We cannot stop adding just because we signed Torres. He is only getting $7 million more than last season. We are over stocked at SS and 3B with Keith, McKinstry, Ibanez, Baez, Sweeney, Vierling, McGonige. Anderson, and Jung. Something has to give. Personally. I would still shoot for a more veteran 3B, a starter behind Skubal, a good OF, and 2 relievers. However, I still do not think Harris and Illitch are interested in adding that much payroll. .
  13. Alex, I hope I am wrong, but I do not see Harris and the Tigers spending this kind of money particularly with 1 year buyouts attached.
  14. Detroit is not a good option if your priority is money and years. What happened to trades Harris said would happen once we had a number of prospects? I see Harris targeting 3rd tier free agents and holding on to our top 10 prospects. Hope I am wrong.
  15. We will probably keep Skubal, battle to get a wildcard berth, no assurances, and add a couple 3rd tier players. Sounds right up Illitch and Harris ‘s alley.
  16. It is okay to disagree, and we do. The Dodgers or Blue Jays (two huge spenders) would have embarrassed the Tigers. One more year of Skubal does not get us to the World Series next season in my opinion unless we sign an another top notch pitcher, a 3B and another slugger, not to mention additions to a tired bullpen. Do any of you really think Scott Harris is capable of getting this done? After next year, I think some of you will regret keeping Skubal for 1 season and getting only one 2029 or 2030 rostered player, if they make it that far. Regardless what happens I will be cheering on our Tigers.
  17. Wrong! With Jobe, McGonigle, Anderson, Clark, Olson, Melton, Bicerno, Hamm, Green, Torkelson, Dingler, free agent signings, and whatever prospects we get for Skubal (if he is traded) we will NOT go backwards!!! One more year only for Skubal and a prospect in 2030 is malpractice IMO and is more than likely what we are going to get.
  18. I am in 100% agreement that he should be traded if you get a front line pitching prospect , another top 15-20 MLB prospect , and a young controllable major leaguer (preferably a pitcher). However, I am expecting Harris to not trade Skubal, us to see the Skubal compensatory pick by 2029 or 2030 and the Tigers trajectory stunted.
  19. Scott Harris doesn’t have the kahuna’s to trade Skubal. Meaning Skubal will leave the Tigers for $400 + Million and we will get a compensatory pick in 2027 meaning the pick will not make the Tigers roster until 2029 at the very earliest. This is why I say trade him now and keep our trajectory going forward, get a top level pitching prospect in the trade, and hitting prospect, and sign a free agent starter and set us up for the he next several years. However, not gonna happen.
  20. Do not resign Flaherty. Hopefully, he opts out. He doesn’t have much left in the tank. Sign a good #2 free agent starter and a decent 4th or 5th starter.
  21. Do you get more for Skubal this winter or at the trade deadline? We all know the answer to this. Skubal is doing what he has to do and the Tigers need to do the same. Trade him this winter for a #2 starter, 3B, and top 10 prospect. The Tigers have multiple holes. Absolutely no way Tigers pay $40 million a year or that Skubal accepts $1 less than $40 million

  23. At 3B Bregman, Suarez, and Alec Bohm are free agents. Not confident Harris will swing again at a 3B. Keith is an option for 3B or 2B as is Max Anderson. Would love to see Anderson make the team with his solid right handed hitting. Somewhere, somehow, we need to add a big bat, starting pitcher, and 2-3 relievers (preferably someone who throws 100mph).
  24. If you trade Mize, you need to sign 2 free agents. I am not so sure they lose Mize. That would put us down 2 starters if you include Flaherty. You have to have someone replace those victories and innings. I do not have confidence in Harris paying 2 quality free agents.
  25. Looking ahead: Skubal, Olsen, Mize, Free Agent, Melton. Others: Montero, Urquidy, Jobe Gone: Hopefully Flaherty, Paddack Jobe should be back later in the season August? Urquidy is a veteran and only got into a couple games near the end of the season. With a full spring training and recovery he could be a valuable piece.
