Zakk_Wylde Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago For about as long as I can remember, there has always been a promotion after Sunday games where kids can run the bases. Has anybody here ever brought their kids to take part in that? I'd have to imagine that there are like 10,000 kids, is it a very long lineup/wait? Is it well organized, or a chaotic mess? I'll be bringing my son to a Sunday game in May and I was just wondering if this was worthwhile, or if it would be too frustrating to be worth it. Seems like a cool experience. Quote
oblong Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I did in 2005 or 2006. I wouldn't say it's chaotic but it can be a wait. You line up out in the OF, on the ramp that goes underground below the centerfield concourse. Then you walk out along the tunnel in RF to home plate. I believe they run from 1st to home, that keeps things organized so you don't have collisions at the plate. THen you walk back up to the concourse from an area by the dugout. Quote
theroundsquare Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago i have done it, but not for maybe 16 years. it is as oblong describes. the line sometimes wraps all the way around the concourse, so it might add 45 minutes or so onto your game-day experience. back in the mid-2000s, parents could run with their kids. once i did it just so that i could run around the diamond at comerica. my most recent experience is that parents are not allowed to join, and there are like ushers out on the diamond to keep the kids moving. i don't think they're actual ushers; it might be the dte girls. i would crash into a few of them. anyway, enjoy! Tenacious D Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Do it. Experiences = Memories. My kids got a kick out it back in the day. Quote
