Interesting... I just read that this will be the first time in over 70 years that the Lions have worn white pants, and the first time wearing a white facemask.

Can we critique it? Content is a little thin and your avatar is just an "A." Not bad for your first attempt, but we expect better from you Bruce.

I hope Gose gets a chance to pitch and has another opportunity at an MLB career. He seemed like a decent guy when he was with the Tigers, just didn't have the bat to stick. Saw him pitch a bit in the Olympics and he didn't look too bad. With all the pitchers teams role out to the mound these days, it's nice to see him get a chance.

I'm not sure I like being ranked a rookie again... Apparently I need 14 more points to reach the next level, whatever that may be. Help a guy out and LIKE this post (and my others please)!

Wasn't Tropicana developed as a multipurpose?
I think one of the things that baseball fans maybe forget or don't realize is that it was opened in 1990. Camden Yards, which has become the standard for the new era of stadia, opened in 1992. Tropicana should be more comparable to Toronto's Roger's Centre (opened as SkyDome in 1989). But I think that because it didn't have a baseball tenant until 1998, it's sterile/unpleasant nature gets magnified a bit. The Rays were created in the retro park era, but started and have only played in a cookie cutter. And of course, the lack of attendance adds into the perception as well.
I believe Tropicana Field was built specifically to try and lure a baseball team to the area, with the White Sox and Giants the targets at that time. The stadium was used for other sports (it was the early home for the Lightening), but that was primarily because it wasn’t being used much until the Rays came along. I don’t believe multipurpose was the idea behind it, but may be wrong.

what even is this place? where did it come from? why is it here?
well, no matter. hey, y'all.
These forums were developed to go with my other websites… MotownTigers, MotownLions, MotownRedWings, and MotownPistons. It also provides an alternate place to post in the event that our original forum (MotownSports) has issues. I no longer own or operate that site/forum. That site was sold in June 2020.

But have you been to the Homerdome? Yikes!
I’ve been to both… I can give the Homerdome a pass since it was a multi-purpose stadium. Tropicana is baseball only and still fails.

So did some banned member just buy it out of spite?
Nope, a very generous business, but one that obviously doesn’t pay as much attention to it as they should.

Ugh, extra innings again… as long as we win, I can deal with it.

I was asked the question on another forum this morning about what was up with MTS. I sent the link to here. I hope that's cool, but hey, if not, fire me.
I'm good with that. I have no issues if this is done away from the MotownSports.com site. Feel free to tell people about this forum otherwise! :)

I don't have any issue with that, I just wouldn't push for it on MotownSports.com out of respect. However, that isn't much of an issue today since that forum isn't working. If people want to tell others behind the scene, I good with that.

Yeah, not thinking this game will turn out good for the Lions... With the Packers getting blown out last weekend, they will have a lot to prove this week at home (at the Lions expense). As a lifetime Lions fan and Packers shareholder, I make out fine either way!
37-10 I'm predicting...

More than .500 I would like them to catch Cleveland and finish in second place.
That's still a reachable goal at this point. Tigers schedule is still tough, but they've been finding ways to win despite the tough teams. If they make it through this weekend with no worse than a split, we have a good shot at second.

Caldwell inherited the best defense of the 4 HCs, so it's not too surprising he did okay in his first game. What blows my mind is that Patricia was "supposed" to be a defensive wiz and he not only coached a poor defense, but he left it in shambles for the next guy.
-
Yes, probably unlikely they hit .500 this year with the remaining schedule as it is. However, they have played much better than I believe most expected, so we should be pleased. Take away April and they were a pretty good team this season. Future looks bright!

You can’t possibly think they would bump the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars, do you? Probably draws a larger audience in the Detroit area right now… 🤪
