I like the idea of more protection from the sun. I would get rid of the parking lot out front and shift the park right up to Woodward Ave., opening up a couple blocks between Comerica and Ford Field. That would be some of the hottest real estate in the City if it existed.

In my experience, in any negotiation, you have to have some things to negotiate away. If there were not some things the players could live without among their demands, there would be no negotiation.
None of us really know all the demands, what people really want, and what they are willing to do without.

I saw the Wiggles three times...twice at the Fox and once at the Palace. The Palace show wasn't as intimate or fun.
I was surprisingly entertained...as much by the band as I was by my daughter who went completely nanners.

that's a lot of additional pressure on Greene and Tork right out of the gate, but not crazy to think they could get it done. maybe start with this.
Grossman (S)
Candy (S)
Correra (R)
Miggy (R)
Greene (L)
Schoop (R)
Tork (R)
Barnhart (L) / Haase (R)
Baddoo (L) / Hill (R)
I like it. I would swap Candy and Correa, tho

Maybe just the '95 to '05 Braves would be okay

suggests to me that the tigers didn't want him, or maybe the reds asking price in trade was too high

Can we call Carlos or Corey yet?
Free agency officilay begins Nov. 8. There are a few days to exercise options and for teams to issue QOs

In recent experience, it seems like the Tigers' version should be called the kennel, 'cuz everyone out there is a dog <rimshot>

A bargaining chip.
This. I'm generally on the players' side and I think this is a terrible idea. It will ensure only that some team pays some guys who don't deserve it.

Many years ago, both MLB and MiLB had their own winter meetings, sometimes in two separate locations. Later they sort of merged into one event. SABR has a great two-volume set about the winter meetings. They have some great stories and info

IDK, It's still not clear Rogers is going to hit enough even with his D. He's still not played enough of a stretch to just assume he is the answer.
Definitely this. Rogers had almost exactly the same number of ABs in 2019 when many thought he was a bust as he had before his injury in 2021.

That's a great thing. I remember being flabbergasted when I used to go to Lugnuts games and would read about volunteer "host families" in the program. Initially, of course, I thought of the guys signing for big bonuses and wondered why they needed housing but all the other guys making dick had to scrounge. Glad that will not be the case moving forward.

so you're saying he'll play for the Tigers for free?

i always theorized (though it was mostly my speculation) that the Florida MLB teams never gained much traction because many people in FL had allegiance to whatever their favorite spring training team was, not some johnny-come-lately expansion team. it would make sense that this would fade as the marlins and (devil) rays gain seniority but that hasn't impacted their attendance

I think writing Baddoo into the OF in ink is probably a bit hasty. As much as I like him and as good as he's been, he hasn't been as good in the second half as he was in the first, and at this point in his young career I don't think we have good reason to think that he won't be the player he's been in the second half rather than the one he was in teh first. Maybe he'll adjust, maybe the league has figured him out for good, I don't think we know yet.

Brandon Inge could hit a ball up to the highest point of that dome with a fungo bat. He could also dunk a basketball, bowl a 300 game, impregnate your sister, and unite all the Christian denominations.
he could not, however, get an umpire to accurately call him (or at least his jersey) being hit by a pitch in game 163. sigh

Legit question and not being a smart ass, if MLB isn't happening would Toledo (and all the other affiliated teams) even be playing?
