  1. it's hard not to feel like it's all over but the crying
  2. The 88 team was in it until early September, when Lou Whitaker hurt himself dancing and had to sit out a bunch of games. Then the Red Sox pulled ahead. The one-game-back is misleading because the Red Sox locked up the division before the Tigers won a final few games such that the final standings had them one game back.
  3. Show me a team that wins when it allows 4 runs or fewer, and I'll show you a team with a poor offense . . .

  6. a dose of former Yankees to start off the game
  7. RHP Casy Mize v RHP Will Warren per MLB App
  8. I was really hot for the Tigers to sign Buehler in the offseason. I guess he was better than Alex Cobb? I suppose the question is, was Buehler better than whoever the Tigers used because Cobb turned up gimpy. I think probably not.
  9. victor martinez 2016?
  10. I think Fozzie Bear
  11. Indeed. I did think of Barry Larkin later on in the day!
  12. Got it. DiMaggio, Greenberg, Pujols, others that I can't think of I'm sure, were all 5. The top row brings to mind a lot of great players, though I can't think of that many great 11s.
  13. i wonder how far backward-looking that was. Pujols would account for 5, Miguel for 24 if it was strictly a recent-years thing.
  14. i just get that ad about how awesome it is to get high and listen to music. and the dumb one about "oppo taco"
  15. Seems to me that a successful meme would have depicted him wearing different style vests to correspond to the differing performances
  16. a more RH lineup than I would have anticipated for Elvis
  17. I am pretty sure that anybody on the 40 as of 8-31 can be in the playoffs. For example, this is how the Tigers hope to use Paul Sewald
  18. "here to stay" -- in Toledo -- maybe not so good
  19. This. I have to deal with people who are tough negotiators, and with people who are jerks. Both are difficult to deal with. But I don't mind the first. I do avoid the second. There is also a sour grapes aspect of the comments that Stavenhagen collected -- somebody saying Harris is difficult to deal with maybe just means he wasn't as pliable as that person wanted.
  20. MLBTR says one minor leaguer but does not identify him
  21. Notwithstanding the Tigers limited activity, this has been one of the most active trade deadlines in recent memory
