  1. in my mind 19 is always the number given to disposable players. i was surprised that anibal sanchez wore it for as long as he did EDIT: I see that Anibal Sanchez wore it with the Marlins before the trade
  2. the big media markets also offer more opportunities for endorsement deals. something in LA or NYC probably would provide multiples of whatever cure car insurance is paying skubal.
  3. Thanks for this!
  4. yes, it was damp and cold. the night's weather started off decent but deteriorated. i watched much of the game from the concourse holding my then-11 month old son
  5. yes! i was at that game. i had won the tickets from the detroit news, which held a contest something like 'detroit's biggest tigers fan.' my entry was that i had (have) a tattoo for this **** team. i won tickets and like some baseball cards or something -- probably all dozen or so people that entered won something. i remember the 8th inning comeback but had forgotten the two stolen bases in the 9th
  6. I remember both. as i recall, the tigers traded for sanchez from milwaukee shortly after dombrowski arrived/became gm. i saw nook logan when he played for the whitecaps. he was as described.
  7. I like your thinking but I think that is light for Cease and I think that the Sux would want more for Luis Robert. Even with Cease's down year in 2025, if teams pay like $9M per WAR this offseason (it was around $8M last year), I bet teams would gamble on him being a 3+ war pitcher. He was 4+ in 2024 and 6+ a few years ago.
  8. It was. Lima Time was one of my undergraduate-self's favorites
  9. yes, mike moore was *awful* on that team. that was (one of) the team(s) that had "Lima Time," too
  10. I thought it was Cashman's predecessor. And I thought Higginson was the piece heading back to NY, because Steinbrenner was like obsessed with him or something
  11. It's not the same team anymore
  12. I could see Nick C. on the Marlins next year. They bring him "home," they don't have much of a DH right now
  13. Trying to think differently, I wonder if there may be any possibility that Riley Greene would be traded this offseason. A team looking for power or LH power in particular, and that can deal with the Ks, could be interested. I don't think Riley's long-term is in the OF. He looks like he's stepping in mud when he runs. He may be a 1B within a few years. Would it blow a hole in the lineup? Kinda. That depends on what comes back in return, and what else the Tigers could do to bolster the team with an OF spot to work with.
  14. I wonder who Arizona wanted. pretty much any of the Tigers controllable players performed better than Suarez did down the stretch
  15. I think that if they want to make a push, CF is a good place to look for an upgrade. I can't say that I have somebody in mind, but getting more out of CF would help a lot
  16. I don't think Mariners v. Skubal is a big enough sample to even think about regression to the mean in any meaningful way
  17. i suggest 1 and 2/3 park. i mean, let's cut the bull****
  18. grumble. i liked the idea of withhholding reps against Vest
  19. That's funny, I used that exact analogy to describe it the other day to somebody
  20. one of them sure looked high
