  1. I bet Anderson gets first crack at it. Melton may be the up and down guy
  2. arbitration might not even exist if there is a new cba. and that could have been part of boras' play. to make arbitration so expensive that the owners would rather find something different. not that boras would have anything less expensive in mind but perhaps something more predictable
  3. if this comes to pass, i nominate the one on that unmade bed
  4. thanks for this clarification. when i read that on mlbtr, it didn't seem right to me but i also thought that i was the one that was probably misunderstanding ps: i wonder if hinch will slot olson or flaherty between valdez and skubal to present different looks and keep bullpen assigments more spaced out
  5. bo bichette a met, offseason not done yet, i bet
  6. MLBTR reports that to be true, with the payroll tax based on 2025 at $169.4M
  7. i guess it makes sense that they were chugging blue lite, then, and only because natty light wasn't in stock 😉
  8. maybe arenado will recover some of his power in that park
  9. lol @ riley chugging the blue light. is that cap'n jack doing the same?
  10. Justyn-Henry Malloy to Tampa for cold, hard cash considerations
  11. i remember seeing ted nugent play the star-spangled banner at the pistons season opener, maybe 1993 or 1994, that was pretty out there. i wonder what he would think of that today.
  12. that's what jesus always says
  13. wasn't inge a high draft pick of the randy smith regime?
  14. the team sucks cock-o for rocco?
  15. no no, tork is an mvp candidate
  16. Edwin Diaz to the Dodgers. Not that he was coming here or anything but one name off the board
  17. i don't suggest this because i'm sour on tork. i think he has value, and it is value that the tigers might be able to translate into a different kind of value (i.e., different position, something like that), with a possible play for upside with keith. also, to somebody else's point, keith isn't as good as tork defensively, today, but given a chance he can probably be much better than he is keith needs a position where he can learn and grow. he hasn't had that. and it's not like tork is keith hernandez
  18. I guess I kind of think Keith presents the prospect [there's that word] of being better than Tork. So far he hasn't been is correct. I don't think Tork has any real upside left. At best, he'll get a little BA/OBP boost from more accurate strike calls in the future, but I think he's a finished product, for better or worse.
  19. I wonder if Pittsburgh would have any interest, and any assets that would interest the Tigers, in a trade for Torkelson. Pitt is trying to get better for Skenes, and they got little out of 1B last year. So he might fit for them. If the Tigers want a veteran and an actual 3B and therefore are interested in Bregman (today's reports say 'yes'), this would open 1B for Colt Keith. Whatever assets Pitt might be able to send back may ameliorate the overall increase in cost that is effectively swapping Tork for Bregman.
  20. one of them is named Richard Fitts bwahahahahahaha
  21. yes. wtf with trading the cat
  22. Twas 2009. Had the Tigers won one more game against the white sox, game 163 would have been avoided. Sigh.
  23. hmph, it worked for me. it recounts the way the granderson trade worked out, with max coming over, and the non-trade of max heading into his final year of team control after the exchange of pissy press releases from the team and boras
