Flaherty has a bad back. We just went through that with Mize. Get back and elbow/shoulder surgery, miss two years then come back mediocre and maybe get two good years out of five? No thanks.
If you take their worst stat and completely ignore their pitching, defense and baserunning, things do look bleak. Their wRC+ wasn't great but was better than their OBP.
The 40 man roster looks pretty good to me. Almost everyone has ML experience. The keys will be healthy outfield and healthy rotation. Hinch will be able to manage the defense and the bullpen to perform their best.
Nobody in the Central has done much.
I would have liked the Tigers to sign him but that is a very player friendly deal. $13 million for half a season and $16 million if he ends up sucking.
