It needs to be Hutch. If the jags take Walker it should be Hutch. Looks like it won’t be though. The thing is though, I trust Holmes, I think he has the right system and knows what he is doing. If he says it’s KT than OK, let’s get on the KT train. But man, it seems like this team needs Hutch, a dude who is gonna produce with no question about his commitment about being great at football.

This would be a setback. I don’t mind trading back, but the 2nd pick can’t be KT when hutch is there.

I’m still hoping that when roger calls out the lions pick at 32 it will be Malik Willis. He might fall.

Hutch is the best DE in the class by a bit of a margin. Nevertheless, I am zero bit surprised that all reports have Balke focusing on Walker. The lions looking like they will have the opportunity to select Hutchinson. What a win that would be for the franchise.

Most around here have said the Walker to jags rumors were just clickbait. Now Vegas has him with the best odds and more legit sources are coming Out and saying he might be the guy. I would be thrilled if the Lions were able to get Hutch.

I wonder if the trading back might make more sense with the 32nd pick. Say a team wants a QB at 32 for the 5th yr contract. If someone offered the lions their 2nd this year and 2nd next year, would it make sense? Peter Kings article this morning mentioned that scenario. In this example the falcons traded up to 32 and the lions received picked 43 and a 2nd in 2023. I’d be ok with that, depending on the board. King also expects the Jags to take Walker number 1. Walker is now the betting favorite in a number of places to go first overall.

IMO, thibs is the mostly likely bust of the edge rushers. I really hope the lions steer clear.

Meh, the Walker stuff doesn’t seem like it’s for the clicks. More it’s about Trent belke being the GM. I could see him taking Walker at 1.

Especially given the projections. Many teams have punted contracts into the future to open space. Last year the cap was $182M, this year $208M and 2023 is projected up to $225M. Those dead cap figures aren’t that significant considering not all positions are being paid premiums. And you often have 5-6 contracts you can cut and make space each year. what will be interesting is how teams react to guaranteed money deals after the Watson deal. As an aside, how shameful was it for the first ginormous guaranteed, contract goes to someone coming off a year where he didn’t play because he was obviously treating massage therapists in a horrible, gross manner. The cognitive dissonance in rooting for this league/sports is real.

With what happened today Holmes should be able to move down and pick up a 2nd this year and a 1st next year, at a minimum.

Agreed, it seems unlikely someone would offer a package worth moving down for.

Most years I’d agree with you. This is the exception. The one year it makes really good sense to move down.

I’m all about the first pick being Garrett Wilson around 9-12. Extra 2nd rd pick (and maybe a 4th) and a first for next year. Drafting at number 2 would seem like a let down now.
