  1. This is the absolute best strategy. If you can move down, stay in the top 12 or so. And then pick up a 2nd rd pick this year and an additional 1st next year then you do it.
  2. Jimmy G can’t sign anywhere. The 9ers didn’t release him. As of now it’s still Jimmy G and Lance in San Fran.
  3. Lions get Hard Knocks.
  4. Hutch, Hamilton and hard pass on the other two.
  5. Consider me non real. My limit is 3, then I can do a lot of them. Trading down is too easy though. Would Seattle even take that trade? They would have to live Willis.
  6. So it seems pretty obvious to me that trading down is the optimal route. WRs are gonna go quick. Why not go get the best one in either London or Wilson? If you can trade down to 9 with Seattle you could likely get some good return since they have a bunch of Denver picks. That’s to say that Seattle likes Willis.
  7. I’ve stated a number of times, if Holmes doesn’t think Willis is the guy, then he should explore every opportunity to trade down. There is not one player I would want to take at number 2 outside of Hutch, and he will be gone it looks like. If you can get yourself some more draft capital, I’d do it.
  8. For more context:
  9. Liberty didn’t use progressions. It was a one read offense. Lions coaching staff even talked about it at the senior bowl and discussed that they were impressed when they asked him to go through reads, his first time. And liberty had a terrible team outside of Willis. I have to imagine that will have been the only time in my life I will watch 8 liberty games in a season, or ever again.
  10. This is a great point (read the 2nd part of Jeremy’s thought too). Holmes will likely only get one chance to draft a franchise QB. If he has to draft a second it probably went off the rails. Is Willis the guy. His leadership traits is something the lions talked about during the senior bowl. He fits what the lions are looking for. It also sets up the QB to play in year 3 of the rebuild. And you won’t have to spend a bunch of draft capital to move up next season. If he is your guy, go get him.
  11. Draft Willis and sit him unless gets hurt. Once playoffs door is shut then give Willis an opportunity. Still need two more drafts. None of it will ever matter if they don’t have a QB. If the lions pass on Willis, or trade down with someone who wants to draft him, I’m ok with that too. I trust Holmes at this point. He will draft the players he thinks is best to make this a winning franchise and he has an established record of being good at identifying who is going to excel at the next level.
  12. This is why you always wait for the breakdown.
  13. It’d be nice if they draft a CB as well. More competition the better. okudah, melifanwu, Jacobs, oruwariye, Hughes. Top 100 draft pick would make sense. Jacobs won’t be ready for camp I assume.
  14. More competition, nice. Great deal. 2018 first rd pick who played well last year. Okudah and Jacobs coming off of injury, CB is a position where someone can really step up. The Jacobs injury was so unfortunate.
  15. I’m definitely in on Willis. I think he should be the pick at 2.
  16. Walker at 2 is such a reach.
  17. If it’s not hutch, I’d really prefer to trade down if possible. I think Walker is such a reach at 2. Thibs is a mess. Hopefully some other team falls in love with Willis and wants to move up. Or they fall in love with one of the edge guys. I’d even be fine trading down into the teens and getting a WR and getting more top 100 picks this year and a another 1st next year.
  18. AFC west is gonna be a blood bath.
  19. JRM is out. See, Lions aren’t bringing back everyone. I still expect them to sign a LB and draft one in the first 3 rounds. Really feel this is a perfect year to trade down if Hutch is gone at 1.
  20. Number of teams focusing on their own early on.
  21. It’s the same argument you and Buddha are using.
