AL Cy Young should be interesting. Brown, Fried, deGrom, Skubal, Bubic, and Crochet all with eras under 2.26. Four of those guys with whips under .95.
-
The playoffs will all come down to staying healthy and if the Tigers can find a #2 & 3 option along with some bullpen arms.
I wouldn't mind the team ligthening Skubal's load a bit after the AS break.
Can Mize be relied on? I have never been a fan of his stuff...even when drafted I didn't think he would be anything better than a #3 guy. But he has been effective so far. Jury is still out.
What after those two? Yikes.

Anderson is 23 years old and has almost a 1000 AB's of MiLB experience after playing college ball. I would hardly call bringing him up this season rushing him.
I'm not suggesting we jump at the chance to move on from Tork...but if the opprtunity comes to make a big swing at a quality SP and he's part of the ask...I would strongly consider it
Teams dont trade a guy who will hit 30+ homers during a playoff run to get a player at another position.

Maybe just want to wait until these guys play a game above A-ball before we put them in the MLB all time great category.

What a dumb*ss.
11 years for $182 million. Hope sleeping with a 14 year old girl was worth it.
This dude is Mel Tucker level of stupid; although still has a way to go for Aaron Hernandez level.

I'm only following the game on gamecast so I'm sure they talked about it on the radio or TV but looking up Enns on the internet and his story looks fascinating. According to his ESPN profile he played in a couple games in 2017, then didn't play in the majors again till 2021 where he pitched in 9 games and then went another 4 years until returning today. Just completely wild and I'd imagine unlike any other player ever. Makes you wonder where does Harris find guys like this?
He pitched in Japan from 2022 to 2024, so he was out if t he country for 3 years.

I was wondering where Miranda was...another of their higher profile guys from that year, Jesus Pinto, is also injured
Jesus Pinto...was his dad cursing at his old, junky car?

Maybe even as a Detroit Tigers manager in a game where the pitcher is an aging vet who is considering retirement and is pitching a fantastic final game. I see John C. Reilly as a catcher type.
Too bad the Tiger pitcher wasn't Jacob degrom.

Michigan-Ohio-Indiana border area here. Hasn't rained today but the clouds look dark.

Tork is coming back down to earth...Anderson is capable of playing 1B and he's been raking from day one in the system. Do we consider moving on from Tork while his value is higher? Maybe not now...but in the off season?
Might as well rush him to the majors too. He played most of last season in A ball and did okay, but he is 23 with 60 games this season in AA. Getting rid of Tork and bringing him up way before he is ready sounds like a disaster for the rest of the season and for the years ahead.

The Tigers pitching is going through a rough stretch. Hopefully Dietrich can give them a quality start today.

Except that no one I listed would be considered a bad prospect.
Your whole point was to trade those guys instead of "blue chippers". So they are either blue clippers or fringe prospects

I agree. I hope I’m underestimating Rodriguez’ potential.
But I also wonder if you could package some combination of players from Anderson, Pacheco, Strong, Franyerber (yeah, I said it), to avoid trading the blue-chippers.
Going with the Avila approach...a bunch of bad prospects instead of one solid prospect....I dont know if all mlb teams look at their star players with such contempt

178 wRC+ and 0.9 WAR in 82 PAs is MVP level, not borderline all-star.
Unfortunately it's not at all sustainable.
Maybe try to be a bit on the positive side more in life?

that isn't a white Sox fan thing, it's a bleeping a-hole thing. Every team has fans that are like this.
-
The Tigers only have Skubal for this year and next. They need to trade for mlb talent that can help them win a WS in that time period.
Realistically, most of the prospects are going to be busts anyway or turn out to be like Trey Sweeney level of mlb player. Very rarely does a team trading for prospects win any trade. Take a look at the Tigers selling off all their stars for a bunch of guys that could barely make it to AA.
-
Pirates aren't trading Skenes since they have 4 more years of control.
-
The Tigers need to do something before the trade deadline. They have two years of Skubal left. They can't waste those years by worrying about trading a bunch of minor leaguers that will probably never be anything other than Trey Sweeney type of mlbers.
I would like the front office to try to add a quality outfield bat. The Orioles have some veterans they might want to dump. This might be a year where a lot of teams hold onto their guys.

I saw some people on Twitter saying the Tigers should trade a top prospect package to Atlanta for Chris Sale. Thankfully, he just went to the IL with a fractured rib cage. I want no part of him on this team, we could find someone less expensive. Both in salary and the players needed to trade for. And I really don't like Sale...😃
Verlander was/is a giant d-bag too, but no one cared when he was winning Cy Youngs.
-
I wonder if the Tigers will try to trade for a pitcher or two.
WIthout looking up their contract status, someone like Jeffrey Springs or Zach Eflin.
No point in getting to the postseason and having the starters get destroyed in a short series.
-
The starting pitching is a huge concern. Is there anyone that is trustworthy other than Skubal. Mize is the 2nd best option.

Santana would definitely be in the HOF of killing the Tigers. Along with Jose Ramirez, Altuve, Sal Perez, Al Oliver Cecil Cooper, so many others
Pretty much anyone who played against the Tigers in the 90s. I know Mark McGwire has like 10 or 15 more Hrs against the Tigers than any other team.
-
I thought the Tigers were going to be a 4th place team this season. Their pitching has been nothing short of amazing.

It also doesn't hurt that Sal Perez is apparently an absolute salt of the earth guy. You can say it doesn't matter, but it always does.
It matters so much.
David Ortiz...2 failed steroid tests...HOF. writers loved him.
Barry Bonds...no chance of HOF.
No one in their right mind would argue Ortiz is even close to the player that Bonds is.

Stieb and Key were both better than Morris, and I don't even think it's close.
Morris won more games and that was when wins were seen as the ultimate pitching stat. But he's way behind in WAR, ERA, WHIP
Morris might be the worst modern day pitcher to get inducted in the HOF.
