I would guess that as well.

A couple of observations about Malloy and Nevin which are variables in future call ups:

    • Nevin is on the 40 and Malloy is not.
    • Nevin is older (over 3 years older) and has more professional experience (2015 vs 2021 pro debut).
    • Nevin has played more as an interchangeable piece which would probably be a short term benefit to Hinch.
    • Henry is the long term play and so there is no reason to rush him from Toledo if he's scalding the ball but his glove still needs work.

I know it been mentioned that Schoop is likely gone by the trade deadline whether or not he is traded.  I'm not convinced he makes it that long if Nevin is making a case for a call up.

I think we'll be able to tell if the Tigers' plan is to trade Schoop at the deadline.  You'll see him in the lineup almost everyday to showcase his talent.   Not sure that'll be a good idea for either the Tigers or Schoop.  😉

  2. Did anyone else notice Schoop's obvious lack of range at second base?   Not that fielding those two ground balls in the inning that the Rays scored some runs would've kept the Tigers from losing, but it would've kept the game close for a better chance to come back.   If Schoop's bat is going to be average at best, I would think that the Tigers would have a younger and quicker second base candidate.  It's time to move on.

  3. For all the hatred thrown at Mario and Rod,  having them and Fox Sports Detroit,   we didn't know just how good we had it.

MLB's TV blackout rules are still a mystery to me.  The MLB changes baseball rules to try to make it more fan friendly, and yet they still have their blackout rules.   It's just a shame that the real baseball fans are forgotten.  It's no wonder the interest in MLB is fading.
