Have you guys checked out what decent rentals are going for these days? However  I agree it might be worth it to check out alternatives compared to repair and upkeep of an older, larger house.

Agreed. Rents are definitely going up fast, at least where I am. But yes, it might be worth it if you can find a place that is well-maintained, especially if it's in a convenient location.

It never hurts to ask what you can get for it.

I've reached the age where I can only take so much of the turnpikes, they're great if you need to be somewhere quickly. After years of dealing with the paid highways in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, there are times where you just need to slow down and enjoy the back roads for a while.

I'd recommend Rte 7 in VT, and Rte 2 in Western MA. Just be warned that there are hairpin turns in Western MA-unlike my part of the state, which is pretty flat.

  3. I'm pretty much over furniture that comes in a flat box that means looking at fuzzy pictures of pieces labeled with numbers and/or letters. I had to take apart my trash can cart 3 times yesterday, because the pictures weren't clear and I don't seem to have the eye normal people have that allows them to instinctively know how to put things together. I did finally get it together, only to find that the trash can Amazon suggested pairing it with doesn't actually fit.

It might be time for me to get in touch with somebody who will build a custom desk/entertainment center. No matter how much it costs, it'll be worth it.

I can see a scenario where deals are cut to ask certain questions so POTUS is instructed to call on them at some point. But I can’t see a normal journalist agreeing if they know that’s the only questions.

It’s fiction sure but the show did have former WH staff as writers. On the season 2 finale of the west wing Bartlett was to call on a certain reporter first in order to help calm things down initially (whether he was to run again after revealing he concealed MS). I won’t spoil it. That run of episodes is the greatest thing ever on network TV.

Love that show! During the '20 election they ran it here all day, which was wonderful.

The family wanted to keep the cancer diagnosis private, but dbag Schilling revealed it anyway.

    RIP Tim Wakefield.

I saw that too. Sigh... It's too bad the Wakefields couldn't keep it private. He seemed like one of the ones I'd like to have on my team, not just for talent but for personality, too.

    Lets hope he's wrong

plus, Trump is going to go out on a limb for you?  Is that really what you expect?

Every time I see a post like this, I think of the part of Life of Brian where one of his 'followers' says that people must 'follow the gourd!'

And as funny as that movie was, it's not what I want to picture as my government.

sad day here. I will be losing my best friend when the home euthanasia service gets here in a few hours. 20 years (18 with me) is a long time for a cat, but I think we all know that it's never long enough. rest easy, bud.

I'm so sorry! You're right, it's never enough time. Both of you are in my thoughts.

@LaceyLou, I am interested in your perspective so I can understand why you disagree.

I don't disagree, actually-the crying emoji is because I agree.

I'm lucky to have a better than average health plan, and wish that more people had access to this kind of care.

  9. Any drama geeks out there? I recommend Theater Camp. It's a fun movie, and I can think of a few on here who will appreciate the captions at the end saying what happened to the main characters next.

ETA: There were lots of people in line waiting for Barbie to begin, and many were there to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer, back to back (both sold out). Even though Barbie isn't my thing, it's pretty cool to see people getting so into it.

Yesterday was Mel Brooks 97th birthday. There was a lot written about Blazing Saddles, but I feel High Anxiety was his best film. A great parody of the 1960s and early 70s thrillers.

My favorite scene, nobody does it better...

Am late to the party, but there's a special place in my heart for his version of To Be Or Not to Be.

  11. Who or what is Jason Aldean? Or maybe I don't want to know because I'm one of them city people?

(actually I grew up in the country, in a town that was probably way smaller than wherever he's from, and that's how I know that people in small towns are neither better nor worse than anybody else).
