  1. This is beginning to sound like a Bloom County strip from the 80s. Only IIRC the weapon of choice was an olive loaf.
  2. I hope you were able to avoid the parts of Boston currently on fire. It's a war zone, as I'm sure you know. 😉 (I'm pretty sure Logan Airport would be a good place for Purgatory to be)
  3. I'm guessing somebody has something else on him, to be revealed if he goes against the Program.
  4. Let me know how you like it. I'm thinking of going to Canada next summer (fate willing) and could use some ideas.
  5. Aren't we supposed to ignore those who pray loudly on the streets, and pray in private?
  6. Years ago, my father taught at Butler in Indianapolis. A colleague of his was in his office, looked out the window, and pointed at a nearby neighborhood as he advised my father never to walk there alone at night. My father pointed at one of the houses and said 'that's where I live.' This would have been in the 1960s, and was one of the few integrated neighborhoods in the area. It did get loud during the Indy 500, and people would park in people's yards during the basketball championships, but other than that my parents loved it there.
  7. After seeing Hamilton, I decided to look at a fictional account from the other side-Burr by Gore Vidal. It's a good read, and now I want to look into nonfictional accounts of these two. And, yes, most of the Founding Fathers did, in fact, despise one another. I recently saw a YouTube video in which they showed 'commercials' using quotes from the candidates in the election of 1800 that might have aired had tv been available. It was pretty funny (and not so different from what we see now).
  8. I've seen worse from healthcare majors partying all night after cramming for the big OChem final, tbh.
  9. When push comes to shove.... I'm guessing they talk the talk but don't walk the walk.
  10. And it appears to have worked at least with some of my MAGA acquaintances and relatives, based on what they're posting on social media.
  11. At least a few of the YA book series I read that took place in the early 19th century had chapters dedicated to the fear people had when they knew polio was going around. For some reason, that wasn't a topic in stories that were set starting in the middle of the 19th century. Gee, I wonder why?
  12. Truth be told, we hate Drumpf for free.
  13. George Soros must be out of money by now.
  14. Congrats! That's great. I hope the initiative passes.
  15. My home-love it!
  16. This, plus there are others here who make the point I would make far better than I could anyway.
  17. So in other words they're using the interventionist interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine. Will they be able to still force Argentina to act in the interests of the US when the US ends up with even more debt?
  18. Let me guess, Kill the Poor? Or California Uber Alles?
  19. Next they'll want to bring back smallpox.
  20. Interesting. Maybe there should be a science and medicine thread?
  21. A friend of mine lives in Portland, and posted pictures of her city. Her caption was that it's a good thing they have the best engineers and architects in the world to fix the burning down of the city that happens there every night.
  22. Let's not forget multiple bankruptcies, stiffing of vendors, and I'm sure somebody can list dozens of cases of fraud including Drumpf University.
  23. There's a more disturbing one of him as a teenager claiming that torture is a "celebration of life and human dignity." He graciously offered to cut off people's fingers, rather than killing them.
  24. America First! Except for places that don't support the Golden Idol.
