  1. I hope it works for you also! Keep us updated.
  2. It does greatly resemble the Gilded Age. Not the one portrayed in the tv series, but the one experienced by at least 90% of the people who lived during this time.
  3. https://www.reuters.com/legal/litigation/grok-says-safeguard-lapses-led-images-minors-minimal-clothing-x-2026-01-02/ I definitely do not regret deleting my account, even though I miss a lot of things about it when it was still twitter.
  4. So many fine, upstanding citizens we have in this world. Sigh...
  5. I've heard that Grok is responsible for a bunch of posts taking pictures and changing them into nudes. Sounds like good old clean fun, eh? Anyone know if this is true?
  6. I'm about 99% sure that little or nothing will happen to him. If nothing changes I also expect him to go on tour to speak to his adoring fans. As somebody else suggested, the 2028 RNC convention is a distinct possibility.
  7. They also don't like that women in general are able to be in control of their bodies and lives. There's nothing worse to them than an independent, childless cat lady.
  8. Plus anyone who suddenly is a big supporter of Drumpf because of this-probably wasn't really a supporter of Biden or Democratic policies in general.
  9. Sadly, a lot of the farms being helped are corporate owned, too.
  10. And in most parts of the country, people have no choice but to have at least one vehicle to get anywhere. Come to think of it, most families have to have multiple vehicles.
  11. Oh, he's all in at this point and he knows it. I'm not sure exactly when, but at some point he decided to go for power over humanity.
  12. I'll admit to running across the street when the coast is clear. The wait for a walk sign can be up to 2 minutes and if the beg button is broken even longer. Out of curiosity I timed the wait times for crossing Comm Ave and the average was 8 minutes. There's no way I'm waiting that long, especially if it's 10 degrees and snowing. My unpopular opinion is that right on red should be illegal in pedestrian heavy areas.
  13. It goes back even further, back to the 40s, even. Not sure exactly when it switched parties, perhaps with Nixon.
  14. He looks like he absolutely knows that something he's doing is wrong (I've seen that look several other times when he's being covered). I can't decide if that makes him better or worse, considering he's going along with it anyway.
  15. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of this. It's absolutely possible to have congestion in your ears from acute sinusitis, although I haven't heard of total deafness before this. FYI, it can take up to 4-6 weeks for sinusitis to clear.
  16. There's another side to it, too, I suspect. The cynic in my can't help but think that people who could go after the scammers don't try very hard so that third party 'protection' companies don't lose money. The commercials for 'title theft protection' often say that victims are left to deal with it themselves.
  17. If today's 'young' is anything like I was.... I'm guessing it would be difficult at best. Sigh....
  18. The funny part of this is that based on my research, I see Hitler's government as being disorganized, and more than a little chaotic. And his so-called masterpiece of a manifesto? One of the most childish, poorly written things I've read. Yes, I know what I read was a translation, but I've read other translations of tracts that did not end up sounding like gibberish.
  19. Another step to get people to accept increasing levels of hatred, and persecution.
  20. I do know a few people who are from evangelical families who no longer believe, but keep quiet around families to avoid being ostracized. I have no idea how common this is. I do know that 'knowing a guy' isn't exactly proof of anything. Still interesting.
  21. I'm also wondering how many people go through the motions, who don't really believe in them. I'm not sure how they'd be classified, or how they can even be counted.
  22. It's a wired one with AA battery backup (Kidde). I'm in a building where the wired ones are required in bedrooms. It seems odd that the battery still drains so quickly. Reviews seem mixed, and indicate that the 10 year ones don't last even close to 10 years. Oddly enough I haven't had any problems with the CO/smoke wired detector in the hallway. I'll look for the smoke detector spray-thanks for the tip!
  23. Any smoke detector experts here? I'm wondering if I can switch to a wired one with a 10 year backup battery. Are they really less likely to chirp every few months? In previous homes I only had to replace batteries once a year (and never had any chirping), but I've had two fail completely and the current one that chirps every couple of months. The other one I have is a CO/fire combo and I have no problems.
  24. I thought I had a lot of wax until one time my doctor cleaned out my ear and it turned out to be skin cells-eczema. No wonder the solution made it worse.
  25. Looks like the tiles/countertops for my kitchen and bathroom. Good grief.
