As I said to somebody on Bluesky, that guy is way too cool to be Drumpf. I suggested Gollum, and somebody else suggested an orange version of Jabba the Hutt instead.

..and as far as I know we still have a right to disagree with the reasons and say so. I wouldn't be surprised if we soon won't have that right any more but for now we do. And anybody who thinks it's okay to randomly bust into buildings, bust down doors, and remove naked children from apartments in the middle of the night? That's a person who has no soul.

..especially since the powers that be keep on changing the rules, and suddenly removing legal status from those here legally or who are trying to do so. And if reports from Chicago are any indication, they're not particularly careful about establishing the status of people before busting down their doors at 3 am.

One of my FB acquaintances, who is 70, listened to Bad Bunny for the first time thanks to this news cycle.... she said she likes him now. I wonder if there are others checking him out-whether or not he ends up playing at the SB, the exposure right now might make him even bigger.

I agree. The worst part is there are people I grew up with, and even some of my cousins who are under the spell. If what I'm seeing going on in Chicago right now is now the norm, it's only a matter of time before many of us are taken away too.

P.S. there's a mean part of me that actually hopes he'll live long enough to be brought to justice-preferably by having his money taken away and being forced to live in a remote place where he has to take a vow of silence.

I saw that he's referring to Portland as being 'war ravaged.' So he's finally calling what he's doing what it is-waging war against those who disagree with him.

Which is why I haven't yet seen the Broadway show, tbh. The balcony seats tend to sell out fast, and while I've gotten floor seats for other shows for a reasonable price, that hasn't been the case with Hamilton so far.

There's the whole myth of him as a liberator, too-freeing people (especially women, but men too) from being forced to have careers, stay single, and be surrounded by pets.

And I'm considered the odd one in the family because I'm the only one interested in musicals, classical music, ballet-you get the idea. Maybe we could switch family/acquaintances for a weekend? 😉 PS it is definitely worth it to sit where you can hear the lyrics better.

I remember being told that Boston was being burned to the ground by protesters/rioters in 2020. This came as quite a shock to me, since I live in downtown Boston and as far as I can tell that never happened.

I just started reading a book that reminds me that the church of the 'prosperity gospel' and its belief of output being a sign of approval from G-d are both strong in this country. There's a feeling, whether on the surface or somewhere close to it, that CEOs are deities, and that financial success is automatically deserved by a chosen few.
