I have a horrible feeling that he has been killed, and that's why they can't get him back to the US. I hope I'm wrong.

Four Dems that voted in favor of voter suppression
The way it's worded, this bill could cost millions of women their right to vote. Since many change their names when they marry, it means the name on their birth certificate will not match the name on their current id.
The cynical part of me can't help but think that's the actual plan, though.

Well, fellow undesirable U.S.citizens, that’s quite a situation he’s creating.
They might as well just go ahead and call them vermin, and/or subhuman. You know they're thinking it.

It was definitely impressive. Thankfully we had people to get there in a fairly organized way.

We are watching the economy get destroyed in real time as well as the constitution ripped up and pissed on and this is all because idiots thought a dozen trans girls running track was a major issue.
People who get their news only from Fox, Newsmax, or (Un)Truth Social are hearing how terrible and dangerous things are, reporting every single 'crime' undocumented immigrants commit with lots of exaggerations (and probably lies, but that's another story).

More details surface in Trump administration plan to cut national forests
April 4, 2025 at 4:50 pm
By Lynda V. Mapes
Seattle Times environment reporter
A Trump administration memorandum issued Thursday declared a state of emergency in domestic timber supply and national forest health, directing the Forest Service to suspend normal environmental reviews and increase logging on more than 100 million acres of national forest, including in the Pacific Northwest.
The memo from the secretary of agriculture is a first step in implementing President Donald Trump’s March 1 executive order directing cutting of more national forests.
The memo has the effect of declaring nearly 60% of all national forestlands to be in a state of emergency, thereby lifting the usual requirements for public comment and environmental review for protection of endangered species and cultural resources before logging.

If this doesn’t depress, disgust, and infuriate you on some level, turn in your “human card”, because this news absolutely should shake you to your core.
Ugh. That's about all I can come up with. It's not easy to be an ecologist when so many don't even pretend to know anything about it. Some don't even believe in ecosystems at all, let alone that destroying them will have serious consequences for all of us.

OK, I know we're supposed to be welcoming people like this into the fold and if they're doing some serious self reflection I'll be happy to do that. It's just hard, because it always seems like the only thing that sways them is when something affects them directly. As long as the bad stuff is directed at the 'others' pain is necessary or even good.

Not only does nobody have to pay any of these 100,000 people to show up, I would bet that a high percentage of them would have paid ten or twenty bucks for the pleasure of showing up.
Many of them traveled to various protests-from the price of a subway ticket all the way up to an airline ticket and possibly room and board. And they probably were glad to do it!

Evidently it was estimated that there were 100,000 people at the event in Boston yesterday-not everybody could fit into City Hall Plaza. We had Lt. Governor Driscoll, Sen. Markey, Rep. Pressley, and Mayor Wu as some of our speakers.
I made the mistake of reading comments to a Fox Digital story about it-evidently we 'don't know what we're protesting' or 'don't want to work real jobs' and I've also seen a few cases in which it's insinuated that we're vandals and that there was violence. And as for George Soros-he must be broke if he's really paying 3.5 million people to show up to these things.
So... while I wasn't approached yesterday, I'm thinking it would be a good thing to have a prepared statement to give if somebody does decide to ask me for a comment. Though TBH, as a poster near me said, the number of things I'm mad about don't exactly fit on a standard poster board. 😉

The oligarchs of the Gilded Age sure didn’t give up their money to maintain public infrastructure and help the poor people of the country.
Nope, they didn't-except for a few that built libraries and other institutions so that they could slap their names on them.
That's why I roll my eyes when somebody says us poors need to sacrifice in order to 'save' the country.
-
If losing money means nothing, and in the end people won't miss it, then billionaires should be happy to give up some of theirs to help maintain the infrastructure and the people of the country that's supposed to mean so much more.

Do it. Maybe if enough people report them, or maybe random made up names (think Bart's prank calls to Moe's bar) then it will shut down. 😉

And JD Bedbug still claims he was convicted of being involved with a gang. Sounds like his only involvement was having his life threatened by that gang.
And now he's in prison with those gang members?

I think Stewart did good work for the NYC first responders but other than that he's not a guy on my radar, but there are things Klein gets right. His critique that we can't get anything built - housing, transit etc., to serve lower income people largely because progressivism has created too many costly rules and given too many people veto power over too many things is one that has a lot of truth to it.
You're partially right about the housing.... truth is there are a lot of people who say they want to have housing built for working class and poor people-as long as it's nowhere near where they live. It's an issue that often comes up in some of the Boston area towns with the highest rated schools. And these are supposedly the liberals.
And sadly, public transit is now viewed by many as a form of welfare, even though a well run transit system is one that benefits everyone.

I think about that a lot too, but I come at it from the other angle. A lot of people drowning in student loan debt spending 5-10K a year on vacations seems like a bad move, especially in the context of the debt forgiveness.
I've never been big on vacations. They are a luxury. I never really got to go on many as a kid: dad worked long hours in the summer and we didn't have much money. As a result, I've never really been big on them as an adult.
I've known people who found ways to travel for a lot less-by staying in hostels, camping, couch surfing, etc. although it only goes so far. They still paid off debts a little later than they may have otherwise, but it was worth it for them.
