  1. Freaking E-rod and his no trade. Sucks the Tigers are going to lose him most likely for nothing.

The Tigers could not find an east coast to unload him. It almost makes you think they did not even speak to the guy knowing he had a no trade.

They are two of the better starting pitchers available, and as of late Monday night, the Tigers’ asking prices for both remained steep. One rival executive said the Tigers, “are trying to be the last man standing at the ball.” Another agreed with that assessment, saying the Tigers were, “holding a high line.”

With at least three teams already known to be interested in Tigers right-hander Michael Lorenzen, the New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports a fourth, noting that the Marlins are also in the mix.  This tracks with yesterday’s report from The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal that Miami is on the lookout for starting pitching help.

And yet people have different opinions on inflation

    They sure do.

You just can’t really afford to live like you were before’: Here’s how Americans are feeling the strain of inflation

    Quote

for regular Americans, the pain of inflation is still most acute in the headline categories of energy and especially food, which are both outpacing core CPI and forcing people to reset their expectations about what they can afford as consumers.

Inflation “is making me have to change my food planning completely, because I have to drop down in the quality of the products that I’m using for my kids.

  6. Iran sex tape scandal:

A sex tape in Iran has led to the suspension of an official in charge of promoting Islamic values - and prompted authorities to deny any prior knowledge of his alleged behaviour.A video posted online allegedly shows the head of culture and Islamic guidance in Gilan province, Reza Tsaghati, having sex with another man.

Homosexuality is illegal in Iran, with LGBT+ people at risk of harassment, abuse and violence.

The video - which has been widely shared on social media - has caused furore online. Mr Tsaghati is the founder of a cultural centre focused on piety and the hijab.

  7. Russia repels major attack near Zaporizhzhia as Ukraine resumes 'intensive offensive'

    Quote

Ukraine has apparently launched a major offensive as the Russian army said on Wednesday (July 26) that it had repelled a Ukrainian attack involving several hundred soldiers near the town of Orikhiv in the south.

The ministry further said that "all attacks of the Armed Force of Ukraine were repelled. Positions were held".

A report by CNN mentioned, citing two US officials, that Ukraine has committed more forces to its counteroffensive in the southeast.

he New York Times reported that unnamed Pentagon officials believe that the "main thrust" of the counteroffensive had now begun. The official noted that the Ukrainian army poured thousands of Western-trained and equipped reinforcements into a perceived weak spot in Russian defences in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The number one concern of voters stubbornly remains inflation and the economy. And despite the best efforts of the mainstream media to play down what everyone can clearly see going on in the nation’s streets, crime is the second highest concern for Americans today.

When asked how concerned they are about inflation, a stunning 91 percent said they were either very or somewhat concerned.

A 58 percent majority said that our current criminal justice system is “not tough enough”

Russian forces destroyed 39 armored vehicles out of 50 that Ukrainian forces committed to intensified assaults in the Zaporizhia direction.

Russian forces also killed 60 percent of the Ukrainian personnel that conducted these assaults as well as 40 percent of Ukrainian combat aviation pilots in the area.

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations on at least three sectors of the front on July 27 and made gains in some areas, although Ukrainian forces appear not to have continued significant mechanized assaults south of Orikhiv in western Zaporizhia Oblast.

    Good progress...

Despite what Vladimir Putin and Digital Pig Smuggler are declaring.

There has been no break through. Russian defensive lines are doing what they are supposed to do. Elastic defense. It isn’t even the main defensive line. Ukraine has lost western made equipment for yards of progress.

Ukrainian forces launched a significant mechanized counteroffensive operation in western Zaporizhia Oblast on July 26 and appear to have broken through certain pre-prepared Russian defensive positions south of Orikhiv.  Geolocated footage indicates that Ukrainian forces likely advanced to within 2.5km directly east of Robotyne during the attack before Russian forces employed standard doctrinal elastic defense tactics and pushed Ukrainian troops back somewhat, although not all the way back to their starting positions.

The New York Times reported on July 27, citing two anonymous Pentagon officials, that the “main thrust” of the Ukrainian counteroffensive has begun in earnest.

Minor gains, also keep in mind this isn't even the main defensive line of Russia.
