  1. MF is short for MotownForums, gutterbrain.
  2. Need Flaherty to be efficient and go deep, at least into the 7th, since the bullpen is a little gassed. The most likely guys we will see come out of the pen tonight are Brieske (if it's close), Maeda (if it's no so close), and Foley, and if it gets to this point (god help us), Chafin and/or Lucas, depending on the score.
  3. A MF poster engaging in hyperbole? Nawwwwwww ... that's as rare as a MF poster engaging in sarcasm ...
  4. Right, the DEI label is the point, BLM used it so how can Democrats be insulted by it, amiclose? If that's what it is, I would counter that how black people use the term "DEI" and how white conservatives use it is the exact same as how black folks use the n-word and how white conservatives use it.
  5. An opportunistic ex-Democrat tried to and look how far he got: the next morning.
  6. Trump is definitely no good under pressure.
  7. Wink + goofy laugh = busting balls. Didn't mean nothin' by it.
  8. I'm going to predict we move Flaherty and Chafin, and Kelly is 60/40. I say that because catcher is a position of strength, or at least a well-settled position, for almost all the contenders, and as a two-month rental, he doesn't have much value in trade. At best he's a throw-in to pry away a lottery ticket. I don't think anyone will want either Canha or Ibanez. If we did get the killer diller deal for Skubal, I think we keep Flaherty and take the QO pick. I also think any deal we do for Skubal will need not only a top of the system position player, but a numbered starter as well. If Harris did trade Flaherty AND Skubal and got no pitching in return, he will have totally overplayed his hand.
  9. I like this in general, although if it came to it, I would bring Gipson-Long into the rotation to start 2025 as SP5 over Jobe, as I would prioritize his development behind Jobe’s. This might change, of course, if Jobe sets Florida afire like nobody else in that state next March.
  10. Wenceel is exactly what a good DH/PH/fifth outfielder is: solid stick, adequate-enough defense. Not someone you would start out there as much as a fourth outfielder, who needs either plus stick/average D or average stick/plus D and be able to start against good teams, but someone who won’t kill you when you start him against bad teams or you have to play him out there after pinch-hitting him for someone during garbage time. So my outfield configuration as the roster currently constructed, if everyone is healthy enough, would be Riley-Meadows-Carpenter, Vierling as OF4, Wenceel as OF5. Rest or play Vierling IF/DH/PH and Wenceel in RF versus bad teams when resting Riley/Carpenter; and play Vierling in the OF and Wenceel rest of DH/PH when resting any of the outfielders vs good teams. That’s what it looks like on appear, anyway.
  11. That’s what Jeffrey Skilling’s big brother Tom would look like if he were a politician instead of the greatest TV weatherman who ever lived.
  12. The savvier among the so-called Third World countries have long been adept at playing off the US and whatever is the other big power (Soviets, China) to maximize their haul.
  13. I think that would constitute saying something.
  14. There is no way Taylor Swift is not going to endorse Kamala. Then it’s probably all over but the lawsuits.
  15. Perfect reply, this:
  16. She would definitely be the PILFiest president we’ve ever had.
  17. I guess I would differentiate the kinds of stories you hear about old time players and Hall of Famers in bygone eras, versus hearing about the struggle of a player who may never make the majors, or being solicited for a player’s pet charity, or having to watch some player’s turn on the red carpet. It’s the difference between reading an interesting story taking place in an interesting time, versus the feeling that I am being marketed to.
  18. Wenceel is not Paredes, so that won’t happen, at least not this year.
  19. I don't think we'd get much for him, at least not in a headline deal. He's barely out of the prospect stage himself, so he doesn't have the track record for that. He could possibly sweeten a Flaherty or (god help us) a Skubal deal, but I don't know if either we nor a buyer would want that.
  20. Heads up by McKinstry! Steals a run on the botched throw to first!
  21. Keep it up, Wenceel Perez, and I might start coming around on you. Gotta work on this, though ...
  22. Praise Jesus! I know Morgan Freeman is not a red hat, but at least someone else noticed.
  23. Fun fact: Five of the top six guys in the batting order today have an OPS higher than league average of .708, one other is kind of close (Canha at .701), and Riley is sitting out.
