I don’t even think Harris should be on the hot seat. After less than two years of being able to do little more than clean out the rot in the system, and he should be on the hot seat for not having us in a position to contend for a ring?

Who said "compete for a ring?" Not the guy you're quoting. Making moves to improve a bottom-tier offense is not a huge ask, IMO, but maybe it is for you. YMMV.

There's people calling for his head after just 1 1/2 years? One draft? Get back to me in 3 more years. We can't be firing our GM every two years. And I thought I was impatient...

I don't know that anyone here has called for Harris's head. Saying he should be on the hot seat, yes, but that he needs to go now, no. For me, if the hitting continues to suck like this through June and Harris doesn't make any moves, I'll be pissed. If he doesn't make any major off-season moves and the offense continues to suck into next season, then I'll probably consider him ripe for the chopping block.

Scott Harris was hired 2 years ago this September. Give the guy at least 5 years to build a team. It makes sense that they didn't sign an expensive hitter, we're more then one player away. We need more hitting, that should be obvious to everyone.

    At least five years? 🤣

    Nah, bro.

I would not even think about removing Hinch but the honeymoon is long over. Same for Harris. No it’s not fair but we have endured a decade of evaluation so turn up the heat and press down on the pedal.

I think it's fair. Look, they built a playoff-worthy pitching staff and were content to go into the season with a lineup of mostly unproven rookies and journeymen. Fans have a right to be irritated. I'd love to see a DD-type blockbuster where we move some of our vaunted minor league assets for a proven MLB stud, but I don't know that either Ilitch or Harris have that in them.

  5. You know who else had a mediocre RAS score and a slow 40 time?

I'm being cheeky, of course, and not saying Williams will be the next ASB, but RAS only tells a part of the overall picture. I do think it's kind of ironic that for how much Holmes seems to put into RAS, one of his very best picks was pretty average according to it.

Aside from Baez, they need to figure out if the guaranteed outs will provide value in 2025 and beyond. Their entire offseason posture was about developing these guys in the majors. There's a reason Harris undersold all optimism.

Tork's in his 3rd year and completely lost in all phases of the game. I fail to see how allowing him to continue to fail at this level helps build his confidence for the present or the future, and letting him figure it out in a low leverage atmosphere just might salvage his value going forward. The Detroit Tigers will still be here when he's found his game.

  7. Too many guaranteed outs in this lineup. At a minimum, Tork needs to be in Toledo, because he's worthless right now. Hinch not sending him down to protect his confidence doesn't seem to be helping his confidence. Finding his swing and raking at AAA just might. This is a game they absolutely should've won but their offense sucks so bad.

  8. The assumption that many make about Goff is that he's only good because of his line and the weapons around him. Outside of a couple of guys, though, every QB is at the mercy of his line. As for his weapons, it's always just assumed that they make Goff better, and never the other way around. Gonna be interesting to see how well Josh Reynolds does in Denver this upcoming season.

  9. I don't know s**t about any of the players who got drafted, but I think the Packers will be the Lions biggest competition in the division going forward based on their history and the fact that their QB is more proven than Chicago's and Minny's.
