  1. I believe this also. Will there be trade offers, absolutely, possibly even great offers. I also believe each year is it's own separate Universe and our best chance to win in 2026 is with Skubal, anything beyond 2026 is total speculation with too many moving parts. Keep Skubal, add 1 big RH hitter (3B, SS or RF), add at least 1 SP and most of all strengthen the bullpen. Let 2027 & beyond take care of itself within the minors for now, we don't know what our needs are going to be. Maybe McGonigle & Clark fly out of the gate in 2026, maybe Madden comes back & Dylan Smith takes another step forward into the bullpen rotation. We'll see but I am reasonably certain I will enjoy 2026 more with Tarik in a Tigers uniform all year than not.
  2. I gotta say, I'm with Chasfh on this, ALL in on 2026 with Skubal, Greene, Dingler, Melton etc + spend more of the Illitch's $. I understand Bregman, but not convinced he would come here. Maybe Bichette for SS (3B in the future). McGonigle to start the year with the big club (chance at an extra pick for hardware like Hunter Brown). 1 big SP, 1 RHH RF, load up on top tier RP and let er rip in 2026. It's been too long since 2006, let alone 1984 and we aren't getting any younger...LOL. Take 2026, and worry about SP again in 2027.
  3. All in for 2026, you keep Skubal ( yeah, maybe he gets the injury bug this year, or the main piece in return for the trade does ?? ), every year is a c**p shoot each year. He is your best option to lead the team for 2026, each year is a whole new ballgame. Try to get Bichette, he can play SS for a couple years while you determine where McGonigle, Keith, Lee, Anderson play or get traded. A RH hitter for the OF. Then Dingler, Greene, Meadows / Clark ? , RH OF, Tork, Bichette, Torres / McGonigle / Keith. Skubal, #2 SP, Mize, Melton, Jobe (2nd half ?), Olson, Flaherty. Start there and see what flies or sinks....
  4. I'm in the minority, but I would roll with Skubal in 2026 through the season, regardless of where we are at the trade deadline. I don't see any team giving us the OMG deal either this winter or in July. It's definitely a gamble, but as Skubal is taking a gamble on himself, the Tigers should make the same gamble, even if we only get a draft pick. Yes, they still need to pick up another front line starter this winter, a couple relievers ( though I hope Madden & Dylan Smith can take a step forward in 2026), and a big RHH preferably RF.
  5. At 25 years old, I still see Riley Greene as a cornerstone building block on this team. Does he need to make adjustments to cut down on SO's, definitely. Hopefully Detroit can add 1 power RHH to the lineup. Do our chances of keeping Gleyber Torres on a QO contract or show me contract increase due to his sports hernia surgery, maybe. WIth Torres, Tork, Greene, Dingler, Carpenter & Keith, add another power RHH, hopefully McGonigle & Clark arrive sooner than later in 2026. Skubal, Mize, Melton, Olson, Flaherty (? option), Verlander as SP to start the year. With Detroit's current controlled payroll, I say make your pitch to pay Skubal, frontloaded for the next 4-5 years @ 40+ / yr for 9 years.
  6. I totally get your perspective, but I disagree for the following reason. Other than Colt Keith & Javier Baez we have no committed contracts beyond 2026. The only current Tigers I would consider extending at this point are Riley & Dillon. You let Mize & Tork & Carpenter play out their arbitration years. Meadows you bring back mainly for defense / speed and see if he can become consistent with the bat. You go out and find 2 RH bats this offseason if possible. you make another run in 2026 for the post season / WS. Let Skubal run at a 3rd straight Cy Young. Pay Skubal, understanding the injury pitalls and non peak years at the end. 2027... Skubal, Keith, Greene, Dingler, Jobe, Olson, Melton, McGonigle, Clark, RH 3B, RH RF, Carpenter DH, maybe Meadows. I say build off this in 2027
  7. I agree with this to a large extent, Greene(LF), Dingler(C), Keith(2B), Carpenter(DH) & Meadows (CF) especially for defense/speed. Hopefully we see Anderson / Lee or FA upgrade at 3B. I don't mind another year of Tork, especially as mentioned with the ABS system next year. Still uncertain about Bregman playing half his games at Tiger Field of 5/3 Park... I can see Verlander as our #4 starter doing at least as well as what we have now for sure. So, a big RH RF bat, a starter & relief help to add. I'm looking forward to McGonigle & Clark starting for my Mud Hens until the All Star break before they move up to Detroit next year, and healthy seasons from Olson, Madden & Dylan Smith next year.
  8. My hope is a Skubal 8 innings shutout, with a clean inning from Finnegan in the 9th, 4-0 Tigers, my expectation is 7 innings of 1 run ball from Skubal and nail biting the last 6 outs, 2-1 Tigers......
