Larry D Posted October 3 Posted October 3 After Ilitch avoided the question of Skubal's future, I am further convinced that he's a goner. They won't pay him. Chris Ilitch is not his dad. He's cheap. Whether they will totally screw up and get nothing of value for him will be the question. It will be a sad day for Tiger fans to see him leave. He is our one and only superstar. Based on Harris's inept moves at the trade deadline, and his ridiculous signing of an injured pitcher (Cobb) in the last offseason, I have little confidence he will go out and get some steady veterans to bolster this young team. Finnegan was the only trade deadline add that added value. Morton was a waste. They cut him. They added no bat to help them. He will probably say he doesn't want to block the youngsters who are coming up. The Tigers have an avid and loyal fan base, but these guys are just happy to get in the playoffs - they are unwilling to make the moves to compete with the "big boys" (Dodgers, Yankees, Mariners, and now the Blue Jays). I'm sure the Dodgers and Yankees can't wait for Skubal to be a free agent, so they can sign him for whatever it takes. Oh, and to support my case of Ilitch being cheap, look at the Redwings. Quote
lordstanley Posted October 23 Posted October 23 When did the Mariners become one of the "big boys"? Quote
