sagnam Posted Tuesday at 06:54 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:54 PM I have no idea how Seattle’s new owner would be willing to take this on. Its lose-lose. Sign him now and you pay him until the case is resolved, knowing that he’ll likely be upset at the contract if he’s cleared to play. Or wait and see the verdict then compete with other teams willing to sign him if cleared. Quote

His trial in Florida isn't even scheduled and won't occur until at least next Spring, so if he's going on the exempt list until everything is sorted out, he's not going to play this season... Any delays in a trial date--for which his criminal defense has to take priority over his ability to play football, given he is facing a maximum life sentence--and he might not play next year either, just waiting for the trial to take place. These things take time. Practically speaking, he probably just wants to be under contract because his having to work in the NFL was the only thing that kept him from being on house arrest pending trial. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted Tuesday at 08:58 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:58 PM Reading between the lines, Rapoport’s tweet was agent speak. The Seahawks did not know that Arnold would be placed on the exempt list. They backed out of any agreed upon deal upon learning that and are now working out other corners to fill the need this season. Arnold still wants to sign with the Seahawks (I’m sure he does), but it’s going to take time (because there’s no reason for them to sign him now). Quote
