  1. Okay, not exactly. Supposedly Favre was paid around $1.1M for speaking engagements for Welfare Programs in Mississippi that he didn't show up for.
  2. The most disappointing thing in this game, to me, was that it didn't look like there was much fight in the Lions.
  3. That would be a death sentence to that GM's career. I mean... there would be no coming back from that every, would there?
  4. Holy wow... that would be quite amazing. Can you imagine even just getting three solid starters in one draft?
  5. I would say that Wright is worse because you essentially used a 3rd round and a 4th round pick on a guy who you cut a little over a year later. Even if we get nothing out of Benson we spent a lot less on him.
  6. Had to look up the trade cause I didn't remember the details. We gave a 5th and 7th in 2022, picked up Benson and a 6th in 2023, so that isn't a horrible amount of draft lost, but still... you're point is right that if Benson can't earn a starting spot against this roster of receivers, then he's a a crap receiver and any draft assets given up are too much.
  7. Generally speaking, I don't think most teams have a decent backup QB. There are exceptions of course, but I think it's pretty rare these days that any team has a backup that good enough to step in without losing (much) talent. But I do get what you're saying. It does seem like the Lions have rare been even mediocre at backup. Who was the last one that seemed semi-decent? Hill?
  8. It's frustrating that they give up so much on the last drive... too much prevent. But honestly yeah... the Vikings were stupid not to be throwing a LOT more than they did. They could have been up so much more.
  9. Also, while I love the aggressive play on 4th downs generally... I think we were a little too aggressive this game. There is a time and a place, but... there's also times when the FG or punt is a better idea.
  10. My feeling as well. Just looked awful out there, making so many mistakes. Honestly, it felt like Lions were looking past this game, just assuming this was a W and don't worry 'about it.
  11. Reposting in the official thread 'cause I'm stupid and didn't realize there's already a thread for this stuff...
  12. That sucks Cruzer. Best of luck and prayers sent.
  13. So even if the Tigers get swept by the White Sox, worst case they'll end up 76-86... so 10 games under .500. That's worst case. That means the Lions need to win 7 games to tie, 8 to "beat" the Tigers. I don't think that's going to happen.
  14. And obviously I won't be starting this thread if I didn't have one to put in right away. I've gotten kinda hooked on The Longest Johns recently and came across this song a few days back.
  15. Thought this might be an interesting thing to do. Post your current favorite song. The idea here isn't to flood the thread with dozens of songs of your favorite artist(s), but rather every so often when you find a song that you really enjoy, share it here for others.
  16. Here's how the NFL ranked 'em: 27. Detroit Lions 28. Houston Texans 29. Chicago Bears 30. NY Giants 31. Jacksonville Jaguars 32. NY Jets
  17. Honestly, I wouldn't be happy... but I also wouldn't be super angry if it was someone commuting. But if there's no other option (ie, no sidewalk, no easy way via side streets) I'd understand. It was just that this guy looked to be out exercising, on a major roadway, during rush hour... it just feel like a dick move. Legally he was in the right. But legally I can walk down a sidewalk repeatedly cursing even if there are young children around. That still doesn't make it a nice thing to do.
  18. How to avoid copyright lawsuits...
  19. Anyone else using this? If so, what's been your experience so far? I just started using it yesterday and got $6.71 back on my first fill up. So far seems to be legit. If you don't know about it it's like a lot of those other cashback things... you buy a products, take a picture of your receipt, and they give you some money back. The difference here is that it's on gas, which many of us are buying a lot of anyway. Looks like the normal "cash back" is 6 cents to 12 cents in my area (depending on the station), but of course there are bonus deals. When you sign up use "baseball" as the bonus code and you get like a $25 cent bonus per gallon on one transaction. And yes of course this there's a referral element involved. If you use my code (6XGZPE) you and I both get a bonus 15 cents per gallon on the next transaction as well.
  20. A couple of days back someone was going down a major artery road on his bike, during rush hour. The speed limit on the road was 45mph and he was causing a massive backup in traffic. Two lanes in each direction and normally that's not enough during rush hour. There wasn't enough room to get around him in the one lane of course so traffic was just way backed up in that lane and the other was obviously effected as people tried to jump out of the right into the left. Now, legally... yes, he was totally allowed to do this and it was within his rights. But dude... just common curtesy would seem to be that rush hour isn't the time to be out road biking. Just to pre-answer a few inevitable questions: There was a sidewalk in the area, but legally speaking he was right to be in the road. Not that I think the police would have gone after him at all had he been on the sidewalk. There was no bike lane. While he could have been a commuter, I don't think this was the case. He was in full spandex on a road bike without any bags/packs on the bike or himself so seems unlikely that he was commuting.
  21. I think MCS' issue is that the Lions made is seem like they had multiple teams lining up to trade for him. Cutting him wasn't the issue, it was the smokescreen of trying to make it look like they were getting something for him. Now, perhaps they were doing that in and effort to try to drum up interest from another team, but that seems rather silly. I can't imagine any teams front office would fall for that... thinking they better make a trade off before some other team snatched up with asset.
  22. Anyone watch La Brea last night? I was intrigued with the premise of this show but I dunno... watching the first episode it's a bit different than what I was expecting. And some of the characters are... rather silly. Add in some really poor writing, some serious questions about the science and a healthy dash of supernatural... I'm not sold yet. I'm not writing the show off yet, but it wasn't a great start in my humble opinion.
