  1. Kid just needs to stay off my lawn with those new fangled shoes!
  2. Not only is this offense painful to listen to, but MLB audio is making me listen to the Pirates announcers...don't know why the Tigers feed is silent.
  3. It seems to me that this whole discussion points towards Harris' development of a top notch "pitching lab". The uniqueness of this park should attract good pitchers but not good hitters as much. So he is focusing on the pitching side...develop or fix good pitching, limit opponent's run scoring (especially home runs), and then try to manufacture enough runs to win low scoring games. Add in a good OF defense and it sounds like the right strategy for Comerica Park.
  4. Showing off a bit in front of the owner of the team who will be approving your future very large contract is not a bad idea.
  5. I love it. This seems like smart business to me. Keith is guaranteed +$40 (if my quick numbers are correct) which is awesome for him. If he turns into a star, as the Tigers think he will, the Tigers get a massive discount.
  6. Mike Trout is the 3rd highest paid hitter and Gerrit Cole is the 3rd highest paid pitcher. Ottani is making just under what the two of them make put together. Good job by his agent to get him paid as BOTH a pitcher AND a hitter. Angels OF Mike Trout: $37,116,666 Yankees SP Gerrit Cole: $36,000,000
  7. That is just insane. I can't imagine that the last 4 years of that contract are going to be pleasant. But who knows....
  8. I'm so sorry for being unclear in my post..."future winter meetings". I will try to do better in the future.
  9. It seems like the purpose of the winter meetings has changed. With the now constant communication these GMs have available to them, do they really need a face to face meeting in order to get a deal done? Maybe it helps a little bit, but not like it did in the past when you had to negotiate over the phone or fly out to visit. I'm kind of planning on yawning during the winter meetings.
  10. One possibility is that they are rewarding well rounded players and are willing to leave players in the minors in order to work on aspects of their game that aren't ready. Meadows and Lipcius are ready to be tested in every aspect of their games both offense and defense. Malloy's bat is ready but his defense isn't. So, the message to the whole system is to work at all aspects of your game and be a well rounded player.
  11. My favorite giveaway memory...A few years ago I happened to go when they were giving away Miguel Cabrera picture frames and since I always get there early I got one. Honestly, I didn't really want one. So, on the way out after the game I saw a kid about 7 years old, asked him if he wanted it, and made him promise to be a Tiger fan forever. He was THRILLED and I enjoyed that more than having it sit on my shelf somewhere. I did absolutely love my replica '68 jersey. That was a great giveaway.
  12. That picture must have been taken during a 2003 home game.
  13. Subscribing to MLB for $3 a month during baseball season to get Dan Dickerson on the radio is worth it.
