but does anybody with the authority and ability to set policy listen to them?
It would be like us sending Lebron James over there.
No they don't. They are house pets whose continued existence is justified only because of some alleged positive influence on tourism. Being a non-executive "head of state" is a ceremonial role.

I get it, you don't approve of the royal family but that doesn't mean they don't have influence in matters such as these.
They have no influence whatsoever, they have almost none in their own country. England has been trying for almost 80 years to preserve some sort of relevance internationally, to little effect. The Foreign Office needs their heads examined for continuing to send these clowns out there.

Probably a little much to expect world leaders and other high profile people to take Spirit.
He's not a world leader and his presence at environmental events is farcical. He should stay home and wave from the balcony, and his children should get jobs.

I see that King Jughead of England has, predictably, flown a private jet to the COP summit to lecture everybody about the environment.

Did you send out the Rule V invitations yet or do we just show up?
I didn't, i just feel like everybody who truly understands Rule V will arrive on time and now that there are no more Covid restrictions around border crossings if you tell the Canadian customs guys that you are going to a Rule V party they will just wave you through.
I already have the Rule V bunting over the front porch. My driveway only holds one extra car and I've always saved it for tiger337, so for everybody else just park at the church up around the corner. They don't like it but what can they do? They can't do nothing.

Well you know, they aren't sending their best people. They are sending rapists and murderers, and they are infesting our country...it's an infestation.

that's the very short (and effective) version of what I said...
Netanyahu can't survive without Hamas, and vice versa. They are each other's perfect foil. So let's not blame the lack of a two state solution on Hamas. If Netanyahu had wanted a two state solution it would have happened a long time ago. He is the main reason why the two state solution was not implemented years ago.

Olson will be the only number 2 starter in the league who looks like he might need to skip a start to go to the prom.

Man...the worst part of a lot of this is that there are good people who need solace out there. I think whatever you think about the idea of a higher power in your most sober pursuits...there are times in your life when it is absolutely a necessary thing to appeal to the strength of that which you cannot understand. I hate with passion those who abuse this for wealth and power. I support and love those who do shepherd their fellow man and live by the golden rule. Christ's teachings are a wonder. Its amazing/not-amazing how they were bridled up by the powers that be to support all manner of foul things.
But, there are many other universal truths out there that go beyond abused by the powers that be as well.
Yes there are examples of groups who are motivated by their beliefs and accomplish great things, with a recent example being the Methodist church in Hungary. Which is why Orban hates them.

Hamas does not want a two state solution. Neither does Netanyahu. It isn't in the best interests of either of them.

Would they be wrong? The difference in the scenarios laid out is that the Israeli soldier using a child as a shield is a theoretical. Hamas using a child as a shield is not.
The suggestion was made that the IDF soldier would not shoot. My suggestion is that he would.

Looks like a useful guy.
-
I believe that the IDF soldier keeps shooting and confidently says "if there was a war crime committed, it was committed by Hamas for using a human shield", like they say every day in real life. Netanyahu would drop an atomic bomb on them and consider the dead Palestinian child to be a bonus.

It always struck me that if there was a destiny planned for each of us individually then there was no need for me to put out much of an effort.

So, the ideological underpinning of Dutch Reform church is Calvinist, correct? Only a certain elect (pre-determined) group are getting into heaven? If that's your outlook...fairly easy to move into chauvinism for your own (tribe, race, college football team) as the elect.
Yes that probably sums it up.

OK I am sold on Maeda, go get this guy. He's a useful back-of-the rotation piece who gives you some credibility in the marketplace for younger Japanese pitchers.

I would put $100 down on Trump right now.

In an outcome that is a surprise to no one, the far right anti-Islam Party for Freedom won more seats than any other party in national elections in the Netherlands.
In the immediate postwar years thousands of Dutch people emigrated to Canada and took up farming, and every rural crossroads in Southern Ontario has a Dutch Reform church on it. And though I am always reluctant to assign personality characteristics to entire ethnic groups (I will leave that to my in-laws) the Dutch Reform church in Southern Ontario is a shining beacon of white supremacy.

As I pondered the idea of the Tigers signing Japanases pitchers, I realized that the Tigers rosters seems to have fewer minorities than any time in recent memory.
Good point, the international market hasn't been exploited well.

2012 was more memorable, but Cabrera's 2013 season was even better than his 2012 season.
2013 was the real Nintendo season for him, he had over 40 home runs on September 1 if my memory is correct, and then suffered the first serious injury, a core muscle, that pretty much derailed the rest of his career.

Tram's 1987, to me, is right there with them. .343 BA, .402 OBP .953 OPS OPS of 155, 21 stolen bases, 105 RBI and being clutch when it counted.
Nice year, but '87 stats have an Asterix because of the ball.
