  1. Someone is defiantly not on team trump anymore
  2. This is a good thread
  3. And that one guy Bill Ackman funded Dean Philips strictly because he was offended that Biden was offended by some crass comment about Biden being silent after talking about his son. According to this well-funded article which seeks to explain that Ackman wasn't at fault, it still appears that they had a misunderstanding. Also, Ackman's only real campaign platform for his guy Phillips is DEI being bad. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2024/01/what-really-happened-between-joe-biden-and-bill-ackman.html
  4. I recall when I was despairing of Romney losing to Obama that i was willfully ignorant of things I thought helped the opposition. That is terrible as a path to decision-making but not uncommon. Mitt Romney... imagine thinking that a guy from the private capital world would somehow be good for Michigan just because he went to Cranbrook and his dad was governor? He's still a decent person but he's been trained in the wrong schools to understand Michigan.
  5. It would be an odd white supremacist -- to say the least -- who sported French World War II regalia.
  6. My former boss and I drove from Baumholder army post in Germany to Sembach Air Base at 120miles per hour listening to La Villa Strangiato air guitaring and air drumming the entire time. Heck of a memory.
  7. well, the math checks out. The fact that he used the thing that was bouncing around in the zeitgeist was not unusual.
  8. I was looking at the Four Freedoms speech. I gather that was the theme of the 1939 Worlds Fair in New York City.
  9. I've hit a limit on my storage for firearms. i can't add more without subtracting something. I think the second British rifle I bought thinking it would be useful for parts for the one I like to shoot more is the one that will go when I get around to buying this newer bolt action rifle. I'm in a really weird place with the community surrounding shooting. I'm basically the guy who drives a sedan to the range and not a truck. Trucks are fine but I prefer to drive a car. Every truck in the parking lot has a don't tread on me license plate, a "thin blue line" sticker, and stickers for the make firearms that the driver shoots. My car has a Detroit Tigers plate bracket and a Michigan alumn license plate. Besides that i don't want folks knowing my affiliations. I am routinely engaged in conversation by people who think i'm "like minded" with them that invariably leads to racist dialogue. White guy in his 50s who shoots? Yeah, but what they don't know is how much I despise their guy and their party these days. I'm still true to my core beliefs. Collective security is my religion (Slava Ukraine). The 4 freedoms. Free trade is good. Most people are bent and you can't stop them from wanting to do graft but you have to keep it under control or we would tear each other apart. I do not hold with bullies. I loath oligarchs.
  10. This is pretty close to where I am. The Nazi memorabilia isn't there just because of historical interest or there would be French Army and British Army memorabilia given that they also fought in the Second World War. The fetishism of Trump by this community is just so weird. I do not get how they don't see through his act. But discernment is not a given. Gun shows were not exactly bargain basement prices last time I went (during the early Trump years) although they sorta were in the 2012/2013 time frame when I would go more frequently.
  11. So, I've been mulling a firearms purchase. It would be a fancy new bolt action rifle. I'm a fan of bolt-action because shooting one allows you to work on breathing and patience. I'm a shooter who never uses a human silhouette target. I'm not there to cosplay. Anyway... the idea of this purchase had me contemplating going to the next gun show here in my area because it would allow me to try out the actions on all the bolt-guns. The wife went to pickup Mcdonalds and took pictures of this vehicle outside the local Dulles Expo center. I think I'll give this a pass.
  12. This is really just the lunatics taking out other different kinds of lunatics Inside Kevin McCarthy’s vengeance operation - POLITICO
  13. That's amazing. And, it matches up with what Mike Flynn and his brother were doing on Jan 6.
  14. The ones who want a dictatorship are not. They are voting on their blood and soil nationalism.
  15. Well, the voters who voted on democracy definitely are voting against Trump by large numbers. So, its a good indicator that the voters who do actually go to the polls are paying attention. Hopeful sign.
  16. What I found is that Putin is so freaked about drone attacks that he cut some areas and it had blowback impact. Details are sketchy though. Russian media: Internet jammed in three of Russia's northwestern oblasts to protect against drones (yahoo.com)
  17. It is. Weird how it all works. Funny how the pedophilia didn't make it so objectionable that people still won't listen to Michael Jackson at weddings or Gary Glitter at football games? Although the latter case apparently is much better known in the UK and they stopped playing his music at soccer venues.
  18. RNC to meet after Trump allies pull resolution to call him 'presumptive nominee' | AP News I'm told that the recent swing state poll suggests that a large block of voters are motivated by the abstract concept of "Democracy" which it would appear that anointing someone twice impeached, once for implementing an insurrection, who has inserted a corrupt ward heeler like Ronna McDaniel into the RNC to help pay his legal bills and navigate the primary process so he didn't have to run against any opposition to be the nominee seems like a bold strategy, Cotton.
  19. Lots of chatter about russian internet being dead tonight. A result being drop off in of bot activity.
  20. If we can spin our backups for draft pick gold like good teams do...I'm all in.
