Having a bit of post-vacation blues here. Glad we won. It feels like 2021 again: a little bit of hope for the future. Still worried that we aren't accumulating talent fast enough to make any of this sustainable. Having the obvious example of Michigan and the [checks notes...stops....checks notes again] Lions to observe what apparent sustained good team construction looks like causes a bit of melancholy.
I just listened to the podcast "A Pod To Far" which dissects war movies (mainly British ones the podcasters remember seeing on a Sunday afternoon). They did The Great Escape. They say that Steve McQueen insisted on having his own writers revise all his lines to make him more awesome. I think they also say that David McCallum's wife left him for Charles Bronson during filming but he had no regrets because he scored The Man From Uncle on the back of the movie.
The most Detroit Lions thing ever would be for Hooker to be put in because Goff had a couple average games. I don't think this group of coaches would do that though.
I think the alt-Right are banking that the Neckbearded violent Jan6 rioters are going to gain more sympathy from the general voting public before November 2024.
Sympathy for the Neck Beard was a deep cut song from the Rolling Stones.
How does Mike Pence poll at 6% when he is . . . Mike Pence. The violent MAGAs have to hate him. The small nevertrump still in the Party group probably would rather throw in with Christie because he is in full DGAF mode. I guess the Christian evangelicals who dislike Trump group is around 6% of the GOP primary voting pop?
Impressions of media in NATO land: The public is leading on the revulsion at Russia. News on French, British, Belgian, German and Dutch TV was very hostile to Russia/Putin.
