A home loss to Chicago would mean we’re in the midst of a collapse

I am going to be in Tokyo on vacation next week and we have tickets for next Wednesday’s quarterfinal at the Tokyo Dome. It’s for the #2 seed in Japan’s group vs #1 in the other, so the tickets for the Thursday quarterfinal were sky high. But if Japan unexpectedly drops to #2 in the group we will be in luck for a great atmosphere. My wife is from Taiwan so them making it to our quarter final would be cool as well.

Everything's fine as long as Yzerman has a very active summer. Sundqvist, easy to replace. But need to replace Bertuzzi and what we thought Vrana could be. So a big splash on a 1st line or 2nd line forward, either by trade of 1st rounders or UFA. And a top-4 defenceman to replace Hronek. That's just to tread water compared to this year. Need more moves on top of that to move forward into strong playoff position. And it's not going to come from top 5 draft picks, because those aren't coming our way unless with crazy lottery luck one year.

By my count, if the Wings don’t come back in final 2 minutes, this will be 6 losses in a 9 day span. That hard to do.

Oooh, that's a good and important point and it seems to be hard to get clarity on that. If it's just the Isles pick regardless, I definitely want them to make the playoffs now so we can pick this year. I don't think the NYI will drop too far next year, if at all.

It’s amazing how Tampa has helped wreck our playoff hopes. In their past 5 games they have defeated the Wings but lost to Pittsburgh twice, to Florida and to Buffalo. Now they’re losing to Buffalo again today, 5-1 in the 3rd.

Are you sure about that? I thought if the islanders miss the playoffs the pick will move to 2024. If the Islanders make the playoffs, the Wings pick this year. I may be wrong.
