Benedetti’s diction is too colorful for the radio. He will get excited and lyrical in the middle of a play but hard for me to figure out what is happening and even whether it is good or bad.
I'm more worried about the Astros than the Twins. The Yankees are 2 back of the Tigers, Houston is 5 back of the Tigers, the Twins are 9 back of the Tigers. Being the 3rd best division-winner would be practically meaningless, it's just a glorified wild card spot. Best record in the AL would be ideal, but 2nd best record would be acceptable.
This week’s ESPN Power Rankings write-up uses the word “scuffling” multiple times. I’ve started to see that word pop up. Is it just a new way of saying “struggling”?

“The only exception really, is the leadoff guy, Gleyber Torres, who does get on base, but does not hit for a lot of power”
-John Sadak, of Reds TV
This weekend is the 40th anniversary of my high school graduation. The Tigers were the defending World Series champions when I finished high school. To a high school senior graduating in this year's class of 2025, the year 1985 is as far back in the history books as 1945/the end of WWII was to my class when we graduated. That has nothing to do with tonight's game, but just wow, I think I need a moment.
