  1. JVR makes a contribution! Shootout winner.
  2. Shootout coming up. Best chance in overtime was DeBrincat’s breakaway.
  3. Wings give up a power play goal off of a Seider double minor, and the game is tied 2-2. Now under 3 minutes to go.
  4. If Brock had slid instead of going in standing up in ‘68, and if IKF had gone in standing up instead of sliding last night, the outcomes of both of those World Series may have been different.
  5. Seider scores the go-ahead hail halfway through the 3rd. A lot of Wings fans in attendance at the Shark Tank.
  6. Sharks tie it in the opening minute of the 3rd period.
  7. Wings lead SJ 1-0 after 2 on a late goal by Raymond.
  8. I think villains and mini-dynasties are good for the game. Win or lose, the fact that guys like Ohtani and Yamamoto and Betts were playing last night made it seem grander. If the Jays had won, it would have been a giant kill.
  9. If Nailor didn't make the catch the Lions probably would have won the game. But the Lions didn't deserve to win. This game makes me question some of the assumptions I had made about how the rest of the season would play out.
  10. I think you kick it away and count on the defense.
  11. Green Bay loses on last second 49 yard field goal.
  12. Field goal blocked. What a disaster game all around. All we can do is hope Carolina beats Green Bay.
  13. Terrible 1st half. 17-14 Vikings at the half. I wasn’t expecting the game to be close. More concerned about the offense than the defense.
  14. Dumb timeout at 3rd and 13, bad calls, bad execution.
  15. Maybe the Lions do miss Ben Johnson.
  16. I've seen comments comparing it to the 2014 nfc playoff sequence of the Lions losing to Dallas with the controversial picked up flag, Dallas then losing to Green Bay after the throw to Dez Bryant was ruled not to be a catch, then Green Bay losing to Seattle in OT on the pass by Russell Wilson to Jermaine Kearse, then Seattle losing the Super Bowl on the goal line interception.
  17. Jays were 3 for 17 in scoring position. Jays left 15 men on base, most ever for a WS Game 7. Dodgers’ team batting average in the WS was .203, the lowest for a champion since 1966
  18. Somewhat similar to the Wings in ‘09 who were up 3-2 in the series but lost both chances to win the Cup. But while the Wings lost Game 7 by a goal, unlike the Jays they never led. Plus Wings fans had 4 recent Cups to fall back on.
  19. Another “station” of note in Sarnia was the Campbell Street Station. A long time bar and music venue in the south end of town. Mark Fidrych signed autographs there for us (no drinks served, I was 9 years old) at a signing in the winter after his 1976 season. When the Tigers played at the Jays in mid-September 1986, and I was about to start a sports reporting gig for a 5,000 watt station while early in my freshman year at the University of Toronto, I worked up the nerve to call Ernie’s hotel room (Lulu answered and I was so nervous I hung up and had to call back seconds later) and ended up being invited over for a 30 minute chat. One of highlights of my sports fan life.
