Another “station” of note in Sarnia was the Campbell Street Station. A long time bar and music venue in the south end of town. Mark Fidrych signed autographs there for us (no drinks served, I was 9 years old) at a signing in the winter after his 1976 season.
When the Tigers played at the Jays in mid-September 1986, and I was about to start a sports reporting gig for a 5,000 watt station while early in my freshman year at the University of Toronto, I worked up the nerve to call Ernie’s hotel room (Lulu answered and I was so nervous I hung up and had to call back seconds later) and ended up being invited over for a 30 minute chat. One of highlights of my sports fan life.
