  1. Maybe Yzerman and McLellan have been reading my unsolicited texts.
  2. Best month in a long time. December: 9-2-1 for 19 points in 12 games, by my count.
  3. Overtime. Can't complain about that, win or lose.
  4. Good game. The Wings aren't going away. Larkin ties the game at 3 with a few minutes left in the 3rd.
  5. Dallas has dominated the 2nd period. Wings couldn't quite hang on until the intermission. 2-1 Dallas.
  6. With 8G 1A he is a mid season contender for the NHL’s unofficial Cy Young award. https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/the-10-greatest-cy-young-seasons-in-nhl-history
  7. Not a surprise he isn’t happy.
  8. This game against #2 in the NHL Dallas should be a good measuring stick. JVR has given the Wings a 1-0 ten minutes in.
  9. 9 of the bottom 10 teams in the NHL in points are in the Western conference.
  10. Wild, the Ford Field crowd must have felt they got punk’d. The scoreboard said 29-24 before the ref’s announcement. Switched it to 30-29 AFTER the ref’s announcement.
  11. The Lions' playoff chances aren't officially dead. I'm under no illusion - I know the chances are extremely low and that even if they were to get in they are a seriously flawed team. But hey, plenty of time to deal with offseason issues in the offseason. Until then, I might as well cheer for them to win on Thursday and Green Bay to lose on Thursday and have it come down to the final weekend. Stranger things have happened, they really have.
  12. Exactly, you must be correct. The pool report doesn't make sense in that respect. To me the only thing that could have taken time was to see whether Goff had crossed the goal line before the clock hit 0 (he hadn't). Because if he had scored with one second to go instead of after time had expired, then probably (unless there's a 10 second runoff?) an accepted penalty would have meant one more play from around the 15 yard line. But the pool report doesn't mention that. And the explanation on the TeSlaa call that "the offending player picked one of the defenders creating an opportunity..." is b.s. The opportunity was created by the one defender lined up with ASB abandoning ASB to go with TeSlaa instead.
  13. Goff said it was a bad call and I agree. But perhaps a more experienced receiver than rookie TeSlaa would have, once bumped by the one Steeler defender, quickly turned his face towards Goff as if he was expecting a pass, maybe even thrown his hands up. He does that and I don't think the flag is thrown. Looking at the replay, it looks like ASB saw the flag - with the flag being out of sight of the TV viewer - a second or two after catching the ball, just as he was beginning his TD celebration. So I wish CBS hadn't teased us by waiting 12 seconds to tell us there was a flag.
  14. Did the Seahawks deserve to lose? Did the Bears deserve to lose? Just as much as the Lions did.
  15. OPI on Teslaa on the 1st down TD reception? Can’t remember if it was Teslaa or someone else.
  16. Let’s not forget they had 1st and goal at the 1 with 30 seconds to go with a timeout. All the Lions had to do was not get a penalty on the 1st down TD, even an incompletion would have been fine.
  17. 12 yard line. No need to have rushed that.
  18. Wow! Let’s do it! Down 5 and getting the ball back with 2 minutes to go.
  19. Dumb timeout. You only save 15 seconds on the clock.
  20. Pittsburgh up 12. Perfectly set up for the Lions to score to make it a one-score game with a few minutes but then fail to make a stop to get the ball back.
  21. Lions @ Vikings could have massive last-place implications.
