I would have liked for us to be in the mix or in a conversation...............Even if it's just for show. Give us something to hang our hopes on. Nothing. Boyd & Lorenzen. Yippee ! -

But, based on what Harris said about the Comerica Park dimensions (which makes me feel are staying the same), isn't he exactly the guy you want for here..........hits in the gaps, gets on base, can cover some ground in the OF. But no, can't spend this year. Chris The Grinch has a heart 2 times too small for that. -

The reason is they have no prospects anywhere close to the majors for 1st base or 3rd base. All those drafts and they couldn't find one. We know how bad Al Avila was at drafting (Dave Dombrowski wasn't very good either), but he's worse than most people think. I mean, they KNEW Miggy was getting old and they didn't even pull someone from another system that could step in at first or third. Not talking about taking Tork to come in at 1b, but they should have been getting ready for Miggy's DH years back in 2017 or 2018. It's astonishing, isn't it? -

I think all that we can really hope for in 2023 is that last year we had possibly the worst hitting coaches in baseball and that, coupled with the shift and a dead ball, was the reason that Baez, Grossman, Candelario & Schoop all had career-worst years and Torkelson was totally lost. Maybe they hired really good hitting coaches now, maybe we will have a livelier ball and the shift ban won't take away so many hits and everyone returns to career averages next year, which could mean another 5-10 wins. I have to believe Tork can hit at least .270 with some power. From what I have gathered, almost every team would have taken him with the #1 pick, but maybe that's wrong. Maybe he's like fellow Arizona State star Reggie Jackson, who also had a terrible rookie season before he figured it out. If he could be 66% of Reggie Jackson that would be awesome, but our Tiger Of The Year hit .253 with .682 OPS and 5 home runs. That was the best we could do and that's horrifying. I am pretty sure that Harris was told he can't spend money this year while Miggy's 32 million is on the books. Next year at least 40 mil comes off the payroll with Miggy, Schoop and maybe even 60+ million if Baez leaves and then we'll have a clearer picture of what the angle is here. Because if we shed all that payroll next year and then we don't spend, Harris & Co had better be damn near perfect in drafting and even then, we're looking at 2026? But it makes me wonder, If Harris' hands are tied financially by Chris Illitch..........why the hell did he come here? Was he about to get sacked in San Francisco and he just wanted the job security? I don't know why he's leave his hometown for this if he wasn't given some money to use to bolster this roster. I know, in order to win, you need to draft well and Al & his cronies were dog shit evaluators who either drafted poorly or didn't know how to develop guys (it's both, I think). But I am really dreading the future now. We know Chris Illitch doesn't give a shit about winning or losing and as long as the team can break even, everything is fine with him. Don't need a fan boy like Cohen with the Mets to own the team, but it would be nice to have an owner who actually follows baseball and it's pretty clear to me Chris does not. Matthew Boyd, Michael Lorenzen, hoping we can maybe possibly get Wil Myers or Eric Hosmer............It's depressing as Hell. -

Do we know why he left?

The Whitmer kidnappers are going to jail for a very long time. Good. When you look at them, they are right out of central casting. Before I ever saw a picture of any of them I already knew what they looked like and I was spot-on. One of the daughters "oh, they weren't going to hurt her". Yeah, sure. I didn't like John Engler..........In fact I HATED John Engler and I did something about it too, I voted against him twice. (He really proved was a prick he was at Michigan State, didn't he?)

Tigers will probably grab Eric Hosmer. LOL. -
Oregon Tea Party.........LOL............Oregon Chapter of the KKK is probably more accurate.

I don't know and I don't care. Twitter is a cesspool just like Tik Tok and Instagram.............you see the way people act in society now..........social media is a big reason why. I think a major story is about to break about him, and it's bad and these are preemptive strikes against those who will report on it. Like it's going to stop anything from getting out. We need to stop relying on it for news anyway. It's like Dave Brandon sending out the Shane Morris concussion memo at 1am........ooh, real sneaky, Dave. As mentioned here, it's just a right-wing echo chamber now. Let them all eat each other. I never needed it and I never will.

This Brock Purdy story is awesome and he's beating Seattle............this is awesome. Mr. Irrelevant.
-
Not a crime. He's destroying it all on his own just fine.............just let him.

A friend of mine, who is Republican and hates Trump said to me about 3 or 4 days before the 2008 election "If your guy wins, my side is gonna lose their fucking minds".

Yeah, but Obama is Black..........so, you know, it's bad.

Roster-wise it's been a very Avilaesque offseason so far. I hope those new scouting people are really really good. Remember 1989-2005? We're only in the middle of another similar run. I know his hands are tied.............but I hate being out of the pennant race in January every year. -
I have been watching Ohio State reaction videos of their fans watching the Michigan game. If find great joy in it.

I wish I could bet that Correa won't play more than 110 games for at least 8 of those 13 years. I'll be 72 when this contract is done, but I could make some money. And meanwhile, not sure we can sign Seth Lugo and at third base it's Kody Clemens/Brendon Davis. and we get to see which Meadows brother stays on the roster, plus we have a guy named Bligh. Weeeeeee ! Gonna lose at least 102 next year. -
that collapse started in the middle of last year.

Red Wing activated Magnus Hellberg. With back-to-back games, will he get a start this week?

But we have Javy. We best not upset Javy. -
HOT SEAT 1. Nathaniel Hackett, Broncos. Only here because it's his first season and the team wants to see if he improves at all 2. Kliff Kingsbury, Cardinals - I can't believe he's still there. 3. Todd Bowles, Buccanneers - Yeah, this ain't working 4. Brandon Staley, Chargers.- Yes, they are 7-6, but a lot depends on a playoff run. If they miss, he's out, no doubt. This team is supposed to be a serious Super Bowl contender. I don't know if anyone else has a hot seat right now. I won't count Jeff Saturday because he is Interim. Hackett & Kingsbury are an Eagles song (Already Gone). Bowles just is not a Head Coach. He kind of got the gig under strange circumstances Brady would only come back if Bruce Arians wasn't there, so they nudged Bruce to the front office, but Bowles is just not a good Head Coach. Some guys are meant to be coordinators, A couple other interesting things going on. I think Sean McVay may leave. He got the ring. He can be on TV, make lots of money with zero stress and be with his family. Dennis Allen is on shaky ground, but losing Jameis gives him a second year, probably. Kevin Stefanski could be in trouble, but none of what is going on is really his fault and I think Stefanski would get another job within 2 years and I am going to mention Matt LaFleur. It all depends on if they Packers want to stick with Aaron Rodgers or not. If they want Rodgers to stay, they'll probably have to fire LaFelur. He'd probably get another job quickly too.

Charles White, Rose Bowl, 1979. He was on the TWO yard line

What a depressing list of players Latest On Tigers’ Offseason Targets By Mark Polishuk | December 11, 2022 at 4:48pm CDT The Tigers have a lot of upgrades to make following a 96-loss season, and the club is exploring several veteran options on the free agent market. Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports that such players as Seth Lugo, Adam Frazier, Brian Anderson, and Edwin Rios have all drawn interest from the Tigers, and Wil Myers is also on the radar, but “the Tigers aren’t viewed as a frontrunner for Myers.” As for players who have already landed elsewhere, Detroit also had interest in Jace Peterson before he signed with the Athletics during the Winter Meetings.
