  1. I remember the Rod Wood derangement. Good times. I am impressed with how well Campbell and Holmes seems to fit together and their chemistry. I watched the entire press conference with Campbell and he talked a lot about strategy but the media only latched on to the kneecap soundbite. Campbell is smarter than people give him credit for. Ironically, he's who I thought Patricia would be.
  2. "The Lions went from the defensive-minded, player-unfriendly Matt Patricia to the offensive-minded, rah-rah Campbell. Campbell, 44, has entrusted just-fired Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn as offensive coordinator and former Saints assistant Aaron Glenn as defensive coordinator. First off, Detroit shouldn't have been roasted for hiring Campbell vs. a minority coach, given that it also hired two minority coordinators along with new GM Brad Holmes, the Rams' former college scouting director. Second, with that out of the way, Campbell and Lynn also are presented with an immediate big challenge with the looming transition from quarterback Matthew Stafford to likely a rookie. The other hires were based on scheming brilliance and staffing experience, while Campbell, the one-time Dolphins interim head coach, is somewhere in limbo on that spectrum. He's a wild card like Meyer, only with nothing close to the same individual winning resume. Someone had to be last and, given how good this round of hires feels, Campbell is that guy." 3. In terms of coaching grades during their first season, Campbell was the worst graded coach earning an F and Staley was the best with a B. Grading 2021's First-Year NFL Head Coaches Entering Season's Final Month | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report
  4. In 2021, there were 7 head coaches hired. 3 of those 7 remain with Campbell, Sirianni and Saleh. Saleh is hanging on by a thread and I would not be shocked if Sirianni got fired if the Eagles flopped in the playoffs. Sports Illustrated graded the coaching hires and Campbell received the second worst grade. Only David Culley got a worse grade. Sirianni got the 3rd worst grade. The highest grade hire was Saleh with Staley earning an A-. Urban Meyer was 4th with a B+ grade. Grading every 2021 NFL head coach hire - Sports Illustrated
  5. See I thought it was the kind of douche move that Payton would like.
  6. I could see Winston going to the Broncos and reuniting with Payton.
  7. I'll go out on a limb and say none of them have close to as many interceptions as Hutchinson does.
  8. Kelce injured his knee in practice on September 5th. The game was the 7th. There was only two days between injury and game time. If that game was on a Sunday, he probably plays. It was also the first game of the season against an out of conference opponent as well.
  9. I like looking at all these other teams with the smug satisfaction that the Lions are better run than they are.
  10. Just promote Tanner Engstrand to coordinator or Brunell.
  11. Hutchinson has about as many pressures as Thibodeaux and Walker combined.
  12. I wouldn't sleep on the Falcons. Atlanta is close to North Carolina where Johnson is from but he wouldn't have to coach the Panthers. He could also hire Staley for assistant. The Falcons have some interesting pieces. I could see them going after someone like Cousins or Wilson as a stopgap until they develop another QB. The Chargers have Herbert but they have an aging and underperforming roster that is up against the cap.
  13. Harbaugh has elevated every program/team he has coached for since Stanford. I never understood why Jacksonville went after Urban Meyer instead of Harbaugh.
  14. The Lions are due for an international game. Had Miami won, that game would have been a slam dunk for the Brazil game. I thought about Jacksonville but since they already play a lot of London games I wasn't sure about adding another.
  15. You can't officially hire a coach until that team's season is over. We also had to wait for the Saints to be eliminated before Campbell was announced as coach. It doesn't seem to apply to GM's. Holmes was named GM two days before the Rams were eliminated in the playoffs.
  16. Ray Agnew and Ben Johnson as a package would be intriguing. I would demand 6 year contracts like Holmes and Campbell got. Problem is I don't think Tepper will be as patient as Sheila.
  17. Lions will end up getting a full slate of prime time games. I'm predicting the Thursday season opener against the Bills, Thanksgiving against the Bears, and Monday night against the Rams. Road ones will be Monday night at 49ers and Packers and Sunday night against the Cowboys. Lions will host the Seahawks in London.
  18. Carolina fired their GM. You would think they would have done that when they fired Reich. Now they have to start a GM search late. I also don't even believe it was the GM who wanted Bryce Young. Now you need to bring in a GM and coach who will want to work with Young because the Panthers don't have a lot of options. What a dumpster fire that organization has become.
  19. Did Williams get a bonus for a TD? It seems lame to get him a cheap TD just so he wouldn't have 0 TDs for the season.
  20. Didn't the Browns hire a baseball guy not too long ago?
