  1. Thankfully it wasn’t Sahith Theegala or Tony Finau that got stopped by Louisville PD.   I cant imagine how that would’ve went down.

On a side note, the biggest crime is this golf course.  It’s not major championship quality.

Depends on if I get freebies.   My company has freebies but today's were taken.    I've been a bit overwhelmed at work (lots of last minute things because people think things can be promoted properly on the radio in 4 days).   I needed a day off, desperately.

I'm not paying to see this team until they give me a reason to pay.    Today wasn't exactly a great advertisement.

Even with free tickets,  it’s near impossible to go Comerica and get the full game experience without spending hundreds.   $16 beers, $7 hot dogs, $7 peanuts.   Don’t even bother walking into the souvenir area.  $35 kids Tiger hats.  It’s stupid expensive.

I'm sure some are more than others - which is the problem. But you also see umps not give away the outside and it's the same catchers behind the dish, so there is certainly an ability level to not being conned.

There are multiple Twitter feeds devoted to nothing but missed umpire calls.  It’s crazy looking at how many different umps get highlighted nightly.  It’s not just a few guys that are the problem.  It’s almost all of them.  It’s gotten so bad that only a few guys aren’t missing multiple big calls every time they get behind the plate.

Framing may matter at the the top/bottom of the zone, but any umpire worth his salt should not be influenced by where the mitt ends up inside/outside - he should have the line of the pitch judged before it's in the glove and it's mostly the outside pitch that umps are giving away - so I don't really think it's framing. I agree framing probably makes life harder for the ump, and when they first started doing it I remember saying the umps should tell the catcher that if he has to move the ball after catching it I'm just assuming it must have been a ball. That would have put an end to framing before it ever got off the ground. Water under the proverbial bridge today....

I agree it shouldn’t matter but look at the video above as well this one from last month below.  Lots of terrible misses on the outside.    These catchers have gotten so good at framing that it’s hard to see them move the glove.  It happens in a blink of an eye and the ump is easily misled.

  5. Alex Lyon got cut on his hand yesterday at Worlds and is out of the tournament.

Trey Augustine came in and played well and looks to be the starter the rest of the way.

This is very, very rare for U20 college goalie to get this kind of experience against pros at Worlds.

  6. I’d be shocked if the underworld gambling types haven’t already found a way to get at least one and maybe even a few umps in their pocket.

MLB’s blind eye toward poor umpiring has to be one of the biggest game fixing opportunities to ever exist.

An ump can very easily impact over/under run totals as well as strikeout totals for both SP based on how much they want to stretch the zone.  Nobody will ever question it as MLB lets them call whatever zone they want without any repercussions.  Managers or players are immediately ejected for disputing and aren’t allowed to comment publicly on it after games.  They can call whatever they want and the league will never do anything to reprimand other than maybe not get a playoff assignment.   I’m sure a majority a true blue to the game of baseball but there have to be a few that view it just as a job to make as much money as possible.

i dont really want brandon ingram on this team, but it would be better than zach lavine, i guess.

Have either ever been represented by Arn, Arn’s agent son, or the firm that Arn pulled strings to get his kid the job?

If the answer is no to all three, there’s a better than average chance the Pistons won’t purse.

  8. I also used the handy search tool and found the word “rad” has been used a total of 13 times in site history.  Every occurrence was by you @pfife .

I’m still a fan of GenX slang but rad is a bit dated and my kid would call it out as cringe.  Maybe take a chill pill on rad and try to mix in a bitchin, gnarly,  tubular, or even a bodacious.   All are phat options.

Never a bad idea to keep things fresh as you never know when some moron is going to go back into the search feature and call you out for some bs from years ago.

    Peace Out!

  9. Yet another horrendous call that impacts a close game.   MLB does nothing and in a way I don’t blame them since it’s not just Angel anymore.  It’s 95% of these clowns they have back there.  They have no choice to put their head in the sand and ignore it unless they pull the robot lever which they won’t do .
