  1. Rumors! Not very exciting though... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/12/latest-on-tigers-offseason-targets.html
  2. It's a minor league deal for Reyes. Will he even make it onto their 26 man roster?
  3. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-braves-and-tigers-swap-production-for-potential/ Ben Clemens thinks the Tigers made a good deal.
  4. We could probably wait and see if someone is blocked by the end of spring training. I'm guessing there will be plenty of roster space.
  5. From Fangraphs: 6. Detroit Tigers (38) Mason Englert, SP, from the Texas Rangers Englert’s second healthy pro season was fantastic, as he made 24 healthy starts and pitched just shy of 120 innings with a 30% K% and a 7% BB%, commanding four pitches with aplomb. He doesn’t throw very hard, sitting 90-94 and living off deception created by his arms-and-legs delivery and the pitch’s odd angle. After that, Englert mixes in an above-average changeup and two solid breaking balls — a mid-80s slider and upper-70s curveball — both of which he commands. He probably doesn’t have a huge long-term ceiling but Englert’s feel to pitch is polished enough for him to essentially make the leap from High-A to the majors and stick as the Tigers’ fifth starter.
  6. Malloy was The Braves number 11 prospect. 23 years old, .404 OBP in the minors.
  7. Something happened!
  8. Lost of some available players: https://www.mlb.com/news/rule-5-prospects-to-keep-an-eye-on?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage
  9. Harris won't give a definitive answer about what he wants for supper. I doubt we'll be getting many rumors. "I'd like tonight's supper to be better than last night's supper. We should be constantly trying to improve and take it one meal at a time. This is an organization where you can elevate your supper to the next level." "So not chicken a-hole!"
  10. Trea Turner to Phillies for 11 years and $300 million.
  11. Verlander to Mets for two years. Only $86 million plus an option.
  12. Kreidler was excellent defensively and generated more value in 24 games at third than Candy did in 124 games. I think Kreidler probably a utility player at this point and they should add an established player for now at third. The time for Candy to be great was this year AND next year to earn the most money of his life but he completely failed this year. He cost himself millions of dollars. He didn't improve all year. Something was seriously wrong. When he personally had to be at his best, he couldn't do it. Why should the Tigers pay him for less than his best?
  13. I had to look that up and I cannot dispute it.
  14. Wrapped in bacon and dipped in brown sugar?
  15. Candy looked lost at the plate and in the field. He wasn't his old self and we'll probably never find out if it was mental or physical. I would have been fine gambling $7 million for one more year but I expect Harris to find an established player to replace him.
  16. Yes, I guess he was injured in 2001 after a dominant first half of the season.
  17. deGrom to the Rangers for 5 years $185 million plus option year for a possible $222 million 6 year total! Last three years 68/92/64 innings pitched.
  18. I like Boyd. I was sorry to see him go. It's not a bad signing but he is a question mark on a team already full of question marks. There's still room for an established starter to be signed.
  19. Matthew Boyd coming home.

  21. "12:10pm: Mike Rodriguez reports that Candelario will make a $5MM base salary with $1MM in performance incentives available."
  22. Fangraphs projects Cleveland to win the division with an 82-80 record. Now is a great time to add some wins to the roster.
