  1. Maton against righties and Kreidler against lefties with good defense would probably be as effective as anyone available.
  2. Right now they have 33 players from the US, 2 Dominican Republic, 2 Venezuela, 1 Puerto Rico and 1 Curacao. Wasn't Avila supposed to have some Latin America connections?
  3. Fangraphs projects: RF Meadows SS Baez CF Greene 2B Schoop DH Carpenter C Haase 3B Maton 1B Torkelson LF Baddoo Sands, Cabrera, Nevin, Vierling Rogers, Kreidler, Malloy at AAA Shouldn't Meadows DH to keep him healthy? I think Miggy might get squeezed out sooner rather than later at this rate.
  4. I love the competition. Why hand any job to players who haven't proven anything yet? Should be an interesting spring training.
  5. Ideally Schoop will perform well and they can flip him. Having depth sure opens up the possibilities though. If he ends up sucking again they can just cut ties and give the young guys opportunities.
  6. The thing I like most about the trade is Maton sounds solid defensively and Vierling should be solid in RF. We went from guys who don't hit much and can't field to guys who can field and might hit a bit with more years of control. The pitching staff will be very happy with the defensive upgrade. Harris seems to be gathering as many 22-26 year olds with potential as he can so they will all hit their primes in the next 2-5 years.
  7. Soto in non save situations... buckle up Phillies fans.
  8. Three bench players but I'll take them over the Castros any day.
  9. Pending physicals. Hopefully Soto didn't break his ankle ten years ago.
  10. DD didn't trade away all their top prospects yet?
  11. I'm cutting off a finger if you guys post boring stuff!
  12. The schedule will be a lot tougher this year.
  13. I was a very upset fan when they let Fryman go and brought in Nevin. Phil was a late bloomer, just not for the Tigers.
  14. Does Fryman have a kid?
  15. Willi to the Twins on a minor league deal.
  16. The roster is full of question marks but at least some have had success in the past. 2022 was probably one of the most chaotic seasons in team history. So many injuries and so many under performers can't possibly happen again (gulp?). Baddoo and Rogers looked good in '21. Green and Haase looked good in '22. Hopefully everything clicks in '23 but there might be even more questions after that with the contract situations of the veterans.
  17. Someone call Bill Nye so he can explain for us morons.
  18. Some team will get desperate at the trade deadline.
  19. He and Crouch will make an amazing battery for years to come.
  20. Logue gave up almost 190 hits in 135 innings between AAA and the majors.
  21. Mario Feliciano scouting reports: https://www.prospectslive.com/scoutingreports/mario-feliciano https://www.mlb.com/prospects/2020/brewers/mario-feliciano-666128 Younger version of Haase? I read an article he has worked with Yadier Molina in the past on his catching. Average catching skills with above average bat. Why did the Brewers give up on him? Found the answer on mlbtraderumors. Shoulder impingement in 2021 and his power numbers were reduced this year. Sounds like the Brewers kept him on their roster without giving him any playing time. He still has one option left.
  22. We're all getting coal for Christmas.....
  23. Candy couldn't get the job done when it was in his best interest for his future earnings to play his absolute best. He couldn't do it all season. There was something wrong and we don't know what it was. Maybe the Tigers' do but we don't. For a player to "bounce back" to previous performance levels, there probably needs to be a reason identified for poor performance and a plan to improve back to form. As far as we know the problem has not been fixed so why give him arbitration when he didn't earn it. Baseball is a very competitive sport. There's always someone ready for an opportunity. We might not know who the third baseman is until the end of spring training and we won't know the results until the end of next season. Candy wasn't going to be here long term anyway. I'd rather try to find a long term solution than waste time on an overpriced stop gap.
  24. Correa 13 years $350 million with the Giants. Guess it was worth waiting one year.
  25. We're creating an environment where guys can get better! Then go sign a big free agent deal somewhere else...
