  1. maybe its him recovering from food poisoning, but edvinsson has looked slow and off tonight. wallinder got undressed by a finn in the 3rd. neiderbach has been ok. in fairness, finland can be a hard team to play against. mazur was great the whole tourney. cossa only played once and was just ok. bednar wasnt anything to write home about.
  2. notre dame didnt have any games last year that registered as many viewers as wisconsin-iowa. playing stanford and navy and a bunch of acc schools not named clemson does nothing for nbc. notre dame - ohio state this year will be huge. notre dame-michigan...usc...wisconsin...penn state....now THAT is what nbc wants. the big ten needs to tell notre dame (and nbc) that theyre not playing notre dame unless they join the big ten. see how many viewers nd-duke gets on a saturday night.
  3. me too. although i do wonder if fetters has anything to do with the rash of injuries to the pitching staff.
  4. aj is not the problem, imo. however, if a new gm wanted to come in and clean house and bring in his own people, i'd be fine with it. the team has regressed so badly this year that no one in management should be safe.
  5. the tigers had a really good bullpen in 2006.
  6. good job by manning. that's all that is important in the big picture.
  7. jim leyland had one of the best roatations in baseball stacked full of hall of famers and a lineup of great players in detroit and never won 100 games and never won a world series. sparky anderson had a stacked team with the tigers full of hall of famers and won once. with one great season. you dont win without great players. and even good managers lose with great players. but if your players suck, you're going to be bad like the tigers are now and your manager is going to look bad because of it. unless he just quits like leyland did in colorado. now that's a great leader.
  8. those shorts are so ugly and gaudy, how could we tell?
  9. someone has waaaay too much money to set 2k on fire like that.
  10. can we all pitch in and get cade a better pair of shorts?
  11. not sure how julian okwara is emerging. he's spent most of his time injured this pre season.
  12. look, whatever we get out of okudah is gravy. dude hasnt played for a year and was bad when he did play. i still expect cb to be high on the draft list next year.
  13. by then washington will be in the big ten too.
  14. too long of a deal for us to consider.
  15. https://mgoblog.com/content/large-contract-many-bullet-points#read-more ND's viewership numbers collapsed this year because there was not a showdown against #1 Clemson that went to double OT on the schedule; their best game was their loss to Cincinnati, which only drew 3.8 million viewers. This is bad. Wisconsin/Minnesota drew 5 million; Nebraska/Wisconsin drew 3.5; Purdue-Iowa drew 3.5. those are crappy numbers for nd. article also says that with the big ten moving to peacock/nbc, expect michigan to be back on nd's schedule very soon.
  16. https://www.actionnetwork.com/ncaab/big-ten-historic-media-rights-deal-expansion The contract includes an escalator clause, meaning the deal could approach nearly $10 billion if the Big Ten’s membership increases, network sources said. Even after adding USC and UCLA, the Big Ten “is not done” expanding, sources told Action Network. Last month, Action Network reported the Big Ten would expand beyond 16 schools and was targeting Notre Dame, along with Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal from the Pac-12. Those plans have not changed, sources said this week. .... In 2023-24, the league’s schools will receive the same conference distribution as they did in 2022-23 (nearly $60 million per school). The league’s payouts will increase slightly in Year 2 (2024-25) before drastically increasing the final five years of the deal from 2025-30, growing to about $100 million per school, including revenue from the College Football Playoff, bowl games and the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
  17. doesnt include usc and ucla in the beginning. but i think the value goes up when they come in. if there is a clause opening it up for future teams to be added, i wonder if that could increase the amount paid by the networks depending upon who thosr teams are?
  18. he's remorseful because saying that reduces his suspension. its the PR he should have done from the beginning. "while i know i committed no crimes, its apparent thay my actions caused hurt to others and for that i am deeply sorry and apologize to each of them. i honestly meant no harm. i am moving forward with counseling and seeking to correct my personal faults and promise this will not happen again. i apologize to all involved and the organization and fans of the houston texans and the nfl community. through my actions i have let all of them down and i sincerely apologize and will work to do better in the future."
  19. come on down notre dame!
  20. theyre desperate for edges this year. sounds like there is no hype behind mcgregor, which is too bad considering he was a pretty highly rated recruit. theyre also over the scholarhsip limit so some folks may be leaving.
  21. the colts are a good team. the fact that certain parts of the team struggled against a good team is not unexpected. i like that goff got better as the day went on. i like any reports that the defensive line did well against a good oline. i am not surprised that the secondary struggled because i dont think theyre very good. and lets also remember: this is practice. who knows who is going all out and who isnt.
  22. they also said the lions defensive line did fairly well.
  23. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2022/8/17/23310110/lions-colts-joint-practice-day-1-observations-offense-rebounds-slow-start pod wasnt as down on them.
  24. this will be the time when we all complain about them ruining their lottery odds.
