  1. I think it's OK to pump up prospects in a prospect thread like this one. In general though, most prospects fail to become major league regulars.
  2. Most of the people in my life are at least somewhat religious. Most of them you barely even know it because they keep it to themselves. That's how it should be. There are some exceptions.
  3. I don't think there is anything wrong with what Hinch said and I don't think it means he is unhappy in Detroit, but I do think it was atypical for a manager to talk that way.
  4. It's very plausible and it's the main reason for those 75-win projections being made before the season. They are playing very poorly now, but they were not going to win anyway unless most of their young players had break out seasons at the same time, which is unreasonable.
  5. Many people do want religious leaders.
  6. Equally effective at becoming president maybe, but one is viewed as a buffoon worldwide and the other will be remembered as one of the best orators of his time. .
  7. Yes, I understand it's a code word but sometimes it applies. I don't know anything about Karine Jean-Pierre, but I would say that the most important part of her job is speaking well. How can we say it? Erudite is not a word that most people relate to. What do I say to a Black student who comes to me looking for advice before an interview and I think one of her best qualities is her communication skills? Is it OK to say that she has good communication skills or is there another phrase I should use.
  8. I understand you are not making it up right now. I also believe in well intentioned honesty. How can you analyze Obama's presidency without mentioning his oration skills? That is how he became president and I do think communication skills are one of the important qualifications of a good president. The comparison between Obama and the two recent old white guy presidents is stunning.
  9. Obama is very well spoken. Are we never allowed to say that a Black person speaks well even when he does? It is one of his greatest strengths and it is highlighted by the fact that the last two presidents have been horrible speakers.
  10. I didn't care for Impemba and Allen, but they were better than what they have now. It's amazing that Dickeron is so good, the best in the game I think, and nobody else with the Tigers is even close.
  11. How about he doesn't work any of them.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if we learned that Shapiro was gay.
  13. The only thing that is going to cross the Missouri state lines is your guns and your Bible.
  14. Or maybe Madison Cawthorn is the dumbest.
  15. Thanks!
  16. I understand why they dropped when Covid hit, but I wondered why they started dropping in Summer, 2019.
  17. S&P 500 up almost 3%. That is surprising. It usually goes down when the Fed speaks.
  18. Most investing forums I have seen are very political and most of the members think they know everything which is not useful at all. The Bogleheads forum is pretty sane.
  19. Just the person I wanted to see here. Why did they raise the rates in 2018 and then bring them back down in 2019?
  20. For those that follow these things more closely than me, is Matt Gaetz the dumbest congressman ever? I know there is a lot of competition?
  21. Nobody is writing Dingler off. He is good prospect, not someone you can count on (few prospects are), but someone with a lot of potential.
  22. Yes, the feds got scared/intimidated in 2019 when the market suffered. It had nothing to do with Covid.
  23. It's always been in the politics section, but politics was frowned upon. The people that started the thread have always believed that Wall Street is the dog and the politicians are the tail and they've got a point.
  24. It seemed substantial compare to the prior 9 years or so. I guessed your interprtation of why it was dropped, but didn't want to get too political in here.
  25. Why did they raise the interests substantially in 2018 and then bring them back down again? My assumption was they were proactively raising rates to stave off potential inflation from the tax cuts. Maybe someone smarter than me can explain what happened.
