The Bears picking first may work to the Lions advantage. I think it increases the odds they trade down to a QB needy team. The more QBs go in the top five the better.

The Dolphins would be incredibly stupid to fire Mike McDaniel, but I agree that if they do they will hire Harbaugh the next day (and probably violate the Rooney Rule).

Maybe against Seattle this year when they killed a play for a "clock malfunction" without blowing the whistle and took a Lions defensive stop off of the board? Naturally immediately followed up by a Seattle TD (that could be the difference in making the playoffs or not). That's the only time I remember the Ford Field crowd going ape shit on the officials this year.

I still think that if Brandon Pettigrew gets up and sells that call by "looking" for the flag, or threw his hands up in outrage, the flag stands. I think in that case the officials were influenced by the Dallas sideline and crowd as much as they were the lack of reaction from Pettigrew.

Officiating is a piece. So is "friendly confines", especially in football and baseball. The Lions success at home this year is probably in part thanks to the fans, but also being in a dome with a team and QB that does better inside. In baseball, your outfielders learn the ins and outs of that field like the back of their hand over 81 games. To a lesser degree, your pitchers know what they can get away with up in the zone too.
